283 modifier-modified verbs have been selected from The Syllabus of the Graded Vocabulary for HSK and Developing Chinese(Comprehensive)as the research objects.This paper aims to analyze these 283 verbs in terms of their semantic and syntactic behaviors.Targeted teaching strategies have been proposed on the basis of the ontology study.First of all,the modifier-modified verbs have been explored from the perspective of ontology method.It is found that modifier morphemes can be divided into five categories according to their grammatical properties:verbal morphemes(Vm),adjective morphemes(Am),nominal morphemes(Nm),adverbial morphemes(Adm),and number morphemes(Numm).While the modified morphemes can be divided into two categories:verbal morphemes and nominal morphemes.Six combinations of modified morphemes and modified morphemes have been found in lexicons:Vm1+Vm2,Adm+Vm,Am+Vm,Nm+Vm,Numm+Vm,Am+Nm.On the other hand,the semantic relationships between morpheme and lexicon can be divided into four types:fully refleced,partially refleced,indirectly reflected and partially lost.This paper also analyzed modifier-modified verbs from the perspective of syntax and found that these verbs can be used as predicates,attributives,subjects,objects and adverbials.It is observed that they usually can’t be modified by"very",can be modified by"no"and can be suffixed with"zhe,le,guo".The modifier-modified verbs include transitive and intransitive verbs and the former type can be further divided into three subtypes:collocating with a nominal object,collocating with a verbal object and collocating with both nominal and verbal object.Secondly,the modifier-modified verbs have been explored from the collection.In The Syllabus of the Graded Vocabulary for HSK,modifier-modified verbs are unevenly distributed across vocabulary levels and semantic types.In Developing Chinese(Comprehensive),the distribution of modifier-modified verbs in the six textbooks is uneven,and the overall vocabulary reproduction rate is low.After comparing the collections,it is found that although the two include differences in the number and content of the collected words,they are generally complementary.Finally,the modifier-modified verbs have been explored from the perspective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Lexical teaching strategies can be divided into three types:articulate morpheme properties,articulate morpheme combinations,and articulate morpheme positions.Semantic teaching strategies can be divided into four types:add up morpheme meanings,complement morpheme meanings,infer morpheme meanings,highlight morpheme meanings.Syntactic strategies can be divided into three methods:explain vocabulary combination,categorize words in the same category,put words in context.In view of the ontological characteristics and teaching strategies of modifier-modified verbs,this article compiles three instructional designs of modifier-modified verbs.This article analyzes the research and inclusion of modifier-modified verbs,proposes targeted teaching strategies,and applies the research results to instructional design in order to help the teaching of modifier-modified verbs. |
