To cultivate high-level,application-oriented professional translation talents and in response to the current social needs, the Master of Translation and Interpreting(MTI)program has flourished with its short-term educational system and practical courses.Nevertheless, pieces of related researches reveal that the development trend of MTI seems to be homogeneous.Such as the irrational curriculum design, low students’ acceptance and expectations, deadlocking arrangements, and deviation from the teaching features.Researches have shown that there are few surveys for MTI curriculum design.Particularly the actual researches on curriculum design and its implementation process are still insufficient.Furthermore, the research samples are not focused and the methods are relatively single and arbitrary. With the hope of delivering valuable suggestions for MTI educators, the author hopes to conduct a survey of the curriculum design of Financial and Economic universities in Beijing district. Therefore, this thesis selected three MTI universities in Beijing district as its case research objects. The questionnaires was conducted both online and offline, supplemented by video interviews and document screen shots. The questionnaires data were analyzed by professional statistical software.Based on the analysis of the results, the following findings are put forward:1.The teaching methods and content of some courses are challenging to meet the needs of MTI students;2.The MTI courses in the three universities focus on theory teaching rather than practice training, and the optional courses are relatively inadequate;3.Most universities have applied new translation techniques, but the necessary language skills still weakened to be improved;4.The courses offered fail to meet the social demand, thus leading to the dissatisfaction among students. In view of the above problems, this thesis proposes the following suggestions: 1.In terms of curriculum design, the three universities should appropriately increase the proportion of optional courses focusing on translation practice and ability training.2.In terms of teaching methods,in addition to classroom exercises, even a larger number of courses related to professional training and social practice should be advised to offer.3.In terms of teaching content, colleges and universities should pay attention to students’ over-all development and provide more translation practice opportunities.
