Multilingual interpreting program in interpreter training is uncommon in China,but it is critical for producing multilingual professionals required for the Belt and Road Initiative.There are few domestic studies on the curriculum design of the program.The multilingual curriculum design should focus on how to balance the teaching of English and less commonly taught language(LCTL),as well as how to balance the burden of curriculum and practice.This is different from the other programs for the Master of Translation and Interpreting(MTI)degree.This study conducted a satisfaction survey toon 45 graduate students and 29 alumni of the multilingual interpreting program at the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation(GSTI)of Beijing Foreign Studies University(BFSU)using questionnaires.The study aims primarily to determine whether the curriculum meets the individual learning needs and social needs.According to the results of the questionnaires,this study concluded that the curriculum design of the program did not fully meet individual and social needs.Deficiencies include an imbalance between English and LCTL courses,insufficient practice,a limited course selection system,unproductive courses,and poor coordination between schools and faculties.The author provides suggestions to the curriculum to balance trilingual learning and increasing practice.
