| Nominalization is an important part of grammatical metaphor,and many scholars at home and abroad have done many studies about it.The thesis makes a more systematic study on nominalization with materials of reports on the work of government based on previous studies.The thesis makes a classification of nominalization at the level of lexicon and syntax.The rule of nominalization of Chinese at the level of lexicon is that they are composed roughly by one independent word and one abstract affix which can be measured or modified.There are three rules of nominalization of Chinese at the level of syntax,The first one is those words which are verbal structures can be followed by“的”;The second rule is those words can be modified by nouns,adjectives,verbs directly;the third rule refers to those objects can be followed by pro-verbs.While in English,nominalizations are divided into verbal nexus-words and predicative nexus-words,they are mainly own these suffixes-s/tion,-ness,-ment,-ity at the level of lexicon.And the nominalization at the level of syntax is formed by V-ing.Comparing the nominalization in Chinese and English,the thesis comes to the conclusion that there are seven types of rank-shifting between two languages while translating,as well as some translation strategies,such as literal translation,free translation,amplification and ellipse. |
