| ObjectiveTo explorethe current situation of the sense of coherence(SOC)for patients with advanced gastric cancer(AGC),and analyze the correlation between SOC and personality traits and social support for AGC patients; To discuss the relationship between SOC and demographic data and disease-related factors; To probe the influencing factors of SOC for AGC patients, and provide a basis for medical staff making precise nursing intervention for AGC patients.MethodsDuring of December 2020 to December 2021,according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,280 patients with AGC from oncology department of a tertiary hospital in Huzhou were selected by the convenience sampling method and were investigated within 48 hours of admission. The research tools included General Information Questionnaire,Sense of Consistency Scale,Chinese Big Five Personality Questionnaire Simplified Version, and Social Support Scale.SPSS22.0 software was used for statistical data analysis, and the analysis methodincluded independent sample T test,one-way ANOVA,correlation analysis, and multiple linear stepwise regression.Results1.Questionnaire recovery: A total of 280 questionnaires were distributed,276 valid questionnaires were recovered, and the effective recovery rate was 98.5%.2.The average total score of SOC for AGC patients was(58.38±10.12),and the average score of each items was(4.49±0.77),which was at a low level. The average scores of the three dimensions were meaning(4.69±0.99),controllable(4.52±0.85),and comprehension(4.26±0.93)points,respectively.3.The results of univariate analysis showed: age, marital status, educational level, family monthly income per capita, primary caregiver, clinical stage, complication, duration of disease, neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness, extraversion, total social support score, objective support, subjective support, and support utilization were significantly differences(p<0.05).4.The results of correlation analysis showed that SOC for AGC patients was negatively correlated with neurotic personality among the Big Five(r=-0.350),and was associated with conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness and extroversion(r=0.306~0.675).The total score of social support, subjective support, objective support, and the utilization of support were positively correlated with SOC for AGC patients(r=0.326~0.516).5.The results of multivariate linear stepwise regression analysis showed that: neurotic personality, conscientious personality, open personality and social support, educational level, duration of disease, and primary caregiver among the Big Five personality were the main influencing factors on SOC for AGC patients. The above 7 variables explained 57.7% of the total variance in SOC for AGC patients.Conclusions1.The SOC for AGC patients is low.2.The SOC for AGC patients is negatively correlated with neurotic personality in the Big Five, and with conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness, extroversion, total social support score, subjective support, objective support, and is positively correlated with utilization of support.3.Among the big five personalities, neurotic personality, conscientious personality, open personality and social support, educational level, duration of disease, and primary caregiver are the main influencing factors of SOC for AGC patients. |
