Objective: To evaluate the non-inferiority clinical study of 2% supramolecular salicylic acid gel and adapalene gel in the treatment of mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris. Methods: 63 patients with mild-to-moderate acne were selected in the time period of December 2019 to July 2020.The patients were randomly divided into two groups according to the order of their visits. The first group is the 2% supramolecular salicylic acid treatment group, with 32 patients in the group, and the second group is the adapalene treatment group, with 31 patients in the group. All patients were treated at home and applied the treatment once every night for a full treatment period of 16 weeks.During the treatment, they came to the hospital for follow-ups,mainly to take photos on VISIA,other values including TEWL,water content and sebum were also tested.Result: The skin lesion changes of the two groups of patients before and after treatment were compared, the total amount of acne(including pimples, papules and pustles)before treatment between 2% supramolecular salicylic acid gel group(test group)and adapalene gel group(control group)were comparable. After 12 weeks of treatment, there was a statistically significant difference in acne, papules and total reduction between the two groups of patients after treatment(P<0.05),while the difference in pustule reduction was not statistically significant(P>0.05);The total effective rate of the test and control group were 40.63% and 51.61%.Comparing the acne reduction rate of patients in each treatment group at different times shows that the reduction rate of the test group and the control group was 40.63% and 58.55%;The control group shows a higher cure rate than the test group.Although some patients developed relatively mild reaction of redness and dryness of the skin during the treatment, neither of the two groups of patients had any serious reactions. Conclusion:Both the 2% supramolecular salicylic acid gel group(test group)and adapalene gel group(control group)reduced the number of skin lesions in patients with mild to moderate acne. The total effective rate of the test group was 40.63%,which was lower than the total effective rate of the control group of 51.61%,but the comparison of the results was not statistically significant(P<0.05).In this clinical experiment, the total effect of the adapalene gel group on mild-to-moderate acne was better than the 2%supramolecular salicylic acid gel group, but the effect of 2% supramolecular salicylic acid gel on pimples was better than the adapalene gel group.
