Hypericum choisiamum Wall.ex N.Robson,a small shrub,belongs to the genus Hypericum(Family Guttiferae)and mainly distributes in the regions of Yunnan,South Tibet in China as well as the area of India,Myanmar,Nepal and Pakistan.H.choisianumis a commonly called "Duo-Rui-Jin-Si-Tao" in Chinse with high ornamental value due to its deep golden yellow petals and numerious long golden stamens in flowers.According to literature recorded,the whole plants of H.choisiamum can also be used as a herbal medicine,with the main medicinal effects such as anti-inflammation,detoxification,clearing heat and dampness,etc.A large number of previous reports have documented that the genus Hypericum contains a variety of rare novelchemical structure compounds with high bioactivities,which has attracted the increasing attention of researchers worldwidely.However,there are relatively few studies on the chemical constituents and activities of H.choisianumup to now.Therefore,the chemical investigation on H.choisiamum will provide a better understand for the phytochemistry and pharmacological activity of Hypericum species.In this paper,the chemical constituents of theaerial part of H.choisinum were investigated.This paper is divided into two chapters.In the first chapter,the chemical constituents and related pharmacological activities of genus Hypericum were comprehensively reviewed.According to the literatures previously reported,Hypericum species contained a variety of compounds including saponins,polycyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols(PPAPs),steroids,flavonoids,glycoside,triterpene,mountain ketone,polyphenols,coumarins and pyrones and tannins etc.The pharmacological activities of Hypericum mainly include wound healing,spasmolysis,excitement,hypotension,anti-tumor,antibacterial,anti-inflammatory,anti-depression,anti-oxidation etc.The second chapter focused the chemical investigation of the aerial part of H.choisiamum.A total of 15 compounds were isolated mainly by the methods of different column chromatography skills(C18,ODS,D101 macroporous adsorption resin,Sephadex LH-20 gel,MCI andsilica gel)as well as preparativethin-layer chromatography technology(PTLC)from the methanolic extract of H.choisiamum.Their chemical structures were determined mainly by spectra analysis techniques including NMR,UV,IR and MS.The obtained compounds were identified as balanophorin B(1),betulinic acid(2),quercetin(3),(-)-epicatechin(4),2,3-di m ethoxyxanthone(5),2-methoxy-3-hy droxyxanthon(6),4-hydroxy-2,3-di-methoxyxanthone(7),1,5-dihydroxy-8-methoxyxantone(8),3-hydroxy-2,4-dime-thoxyxanthone(9),2,2’,5-trihydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone(10),sampsone B(11),2-hydroxyphenyl-O-β-D glucoside(12),1-chlorohexadecane(13),terephthalic acid bis(2-ethyl-hexyl)ester(14)and 22,23-dihydrospinasterol(15).Among them,compounds 1,2 and 4-15 were isolated from the plant of H.choisianum for the first time.The results of present study showed that xanthones and related phenolic compounds are the main chemical constituents in H.choisianum.This work provides a scientific and valuable suggestion on the reasonable use of the medicinal plant of H.choisianum.
