Objective:This study aimed to explore the correlation between the tic disorder and atlantoaxial rotatory fixation, and analyze the clinical efficacy of manipulative reduction on children with atlantoaxial rotatory fixation(liver hyperactivity with stirring wind pattern)by adopting it as the intervention measure.Methods:96 children with tic disorders and 90 healthy children who visited First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine during the same period were selected. All children’s data on symptoms and signs of atlantoaxial rotatory fixation were collected on the first day of visit and comparison was made between the two groups for analysis. The second part was the comparison of efficacy between manipulative reduction and Chinese patent drug.60 children who met the diagnostic criteria for tic disorder and liver hyperactivity with stirring wind pattern were involved.According to the willing of children and their parents,60 children were divided into 2 groups:20 children in the treatment group and 40 children in the control.Children in the treatment group got manipulative reduction and children in the control took Changma Xifeng Pills orally for 8 weeks.Scores of Yale Global Tie Severityb Scale(YGTSS)and TCM syndrome, before and after treatment, were collected and analyzed to draw this study’s conclusion on clinical efficacy.Results:1.The number of children in tic disorder group with atlantoaxial rotation fixation was 22,accounting for 22.92%.2.Efficacy on manipulative reduction:(1)Total effective rate:The total effective rate was 75.00%in the treatment group and 62.50%in the control group, which was significantly different(P<0.05);The total effective rate of TCM syndrome was 80.00%in the treatment group and 57.50%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)Scores of YGTSS:For children in both group, scores of motion twitch, vocal twitch, twitch as well as the total scores decreased significantly(P<0.05).And after the treatment, the improvement of YGTSS scores in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).(3)Scores in TCM syndromes:After the treatment, children in the treatment got better improvement in scores of TCM syndromes than those in the control group(P<0.05).3.Safety indicators:During the treatment, there was 1 case of cervical muscle discomfort in the experimental group, which was relieved by itself after one hour’s rest. There was no serious discomfort in the two groups.Conclusion:1.There is a certain correlation between the tic disorder and atlantoaxial rotatory fixation.2.Manual reduction could effectively relieve the tic symptoms of children with tic disorder in liver hyperactivity with stirring wind pattern, and both its curative effect and improvement in TCM syndrome are better than those of Changma Xifeng Pills.
