ObjectiveIn this study,the Information-Motivation-Behavior skills(IMB)model was applied to middle-aged and elderly breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy,and to explore the impact of nursing intervention based on the IMB model on the self-efficacy,anxiety,depression,and quality of life in middle-aged and elderly breast cancer with patients chemotherapy,and to provide a reference for nursing workers to carrying out individualized nursing intervention for middle-aged and elderly breast cancer with chemotherapy patients.Methods(1)From May 2020 to September 2020,80 middle-aged and elderly breast cancer chemotherapy patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the breast surgery department of a tertiary a hospital in Hengyang were selected as the research objects.Randomly divided into intervention group(40 cases)and control group(40 cases).The patients in two groups were cared with breast surgery routine nursing,meanwhile,and the patients in the intervention group were also cared with health education based on the IMB skills model.The Chinese version of the Cancer Self-Management Efficacy Scale,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale,Self-Rating Depression Scale,and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast Cancer were used to evaluate the intervention effects in the breast cancer patients before the intervention and at the end of 3-month intervention,evaluate the two groups the patient’s general information,self-efficacy score,anxiety score,depression score,and quality of life score.(2)SPSS24.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data,the statistical methods used included mean±standard deviation,percentage,frequency for statistical description,and Chi-square test,two independent sample t test,and approximate t test,P< 0.05 was statistically significantiy.Result(1)In this study,both groups of patients had withdrawn.In the end,a total of 75 middle-aged and elderly breast cancer chemotherapy patients completed the study,including 38 cases in the control group and 37 cases in the intervention group.The total score of self-efficacy of 75 middle-aged and elderly breast cancer chemotherapy patients was(79.00±17.75)points,which was at a moderate level.The anxiety score of 75 middle-aged and elderly breast cancer chemotherapy patients was(55.37±6.91)points,which was at a mild degree of anxiety.The depression score was(57.15±7.02)points,which was in a mild degree of depression;the total quality of life scores of 75middle-aged and elderly breast cancer patients with chemotherapy were(77.53±14.30)points,which was at a moderate level.(2)Before the intervention,there were no significant differences in age,marital status,education background,residence,family monthly income,work status,medical payment method,caregivers,clinical diagnosis and clinical stage in the middle-aged and elderly breast cancer patients between the two groups(P>0.05).(3)At the end of 3 months of intervention,the total score of self-efficacy and the scores of 3 dimensions in the intervention group were higher than those before intervention,with statistical significance(P<0.05).The scores of total self-efficacy,positive attitude and self-decompression in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)At the end of 3 months after intervention,scores of anxiety and depression in the intervention group were lower than those before intervention and those in the control group,with statistical significance(P < 0.05).(5)At the end of 3 months after intervention,the total score of quality of life and the scores of 5 dimensions in the intervention group were higher than those before intervention,with statistical significance(P< 0.05).The total score of quality of life,social/family status,emotional status,functional status and additional concern of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionHealth education based on the IMB model can improve the self-efficacy of middle-aged and elderly breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy for the first time,improve their existing anxiety and depression,thereby improving the quality of life of patients,and providing individualized health education for clinical nursing workers Provide reference basis.
