Abstract/Summary:
Objective: Through observing wheat-grain size cone moxibustion at back-shu point combined with acupuncture on the symptoms, signs and serum immunology of allergic rhinitis with spleen qi deficiency syndrome,to explore its clinical efficacy and mechanism,so as to provide a scientific basis for wheat-grain size cone moxibustion at back-shu point combined with acupuncture on the treatment of AR with spleen qi deficiency syndrome. Methods: According to the case selection criteria,60 AR patients with spleen qi deficiency syndrome were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,with30 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with Yintang(GV29),double Shangyingxiang(EX-HN8),Fengmen(BL12),zusanli(ST36),Pishu(BL20)and Weishu(BL21).The control group was only treated with ordinary acupuncture, while the treatment group was treated with wheat-grain size cone moxibustion on both sides of Pishu(BL20)and Weishu(BL21)after ordinary acupuncture, five strong moxibustion per point,Both groups were treated once every other day,3 times a week as a course of treatment, for four consecutive courses. The syndrome and sign scores were recorded before and after treatment and one month after treatment(follow-up).Serum levels of interferon-γ(IFN-γ)and interleukin 4(IL-4)were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Statistical analysis was carried out on the observation indexes to evaluate the clinical efficacy.Results:1.Intra-group comparison: The scores of both groups were significantly reduced after treatment and at follow-up,and there were significant differences compared with those before treatment(P<0.05).After treatment, the serum IFN-γ content was increased and the serum IL-4 content was decreased in the two groups, and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Comparison between groups: In terms of clinical efficacy, the total effective rate in the treatment group was 96.55%,which was higher than 85.19% in the control group. The difference in efficacy between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).In terms of syndromes, the improvement degree of total syndromes score and individual scores of nasal obstruction, excessive amount of snot, thin stools and post-eating abdominal distension in the treatment group were better than those in the control group, and there were significant differences(P<0.05).In terms of physical signs, there was no statistical significance in the improvement degree between the two groups(P>0.05).In terms of serum immunological indexes, the increased level of IFN-γ and the decreased level of IL-4 in the two groups after treatment were compared, and the treatment group was better than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: Wheat-grain size cone moxibustion at back-shu point combined with acupuncture and ordinary acupuncture can improve the symptoms and signs of AR patients with spleen qi deficiency syndrome, the mechanism of which may be related to the increase of serum IFN-γ and decrease of serum IL-4 content. The clinical curative effect and immunomodulatory effect of wheat-grain size cone moxibustion combined with acupuncture on back-shu points are better than ordinary acupuncture, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
