BackgroundThe hospital is the gathering place for patients, and the ICU is the gathering place for critically patients. The ICU belongs to the second-class environment, which has the characteristics of many critically patients, patient with low immunity, high density of personnel, many instruments and equipment, and a large proportion of drug-resistant bacteria. It is important to take some disinfection measure to control the infection rate of patients and improve the prognosis of patients. However, the current traditional disinfectants, including commonly used air disinfection with ultraviolet and surface disinfection with chlorine-containing disinfectant, have a lot of disadvantages such as side effects and disinfection blind spots. It is of great significance to find new disinfectants that overcome these shortcomings.ObjectiveThe purpose of this experiment is to investigate the disinfection effect of the new generation chlorine dioxide gas in the air and object surface in Emergency Intensive Care Unit(EICU)ward, including the qualified rate before and after disinfection and the removal rate of bacteria. At the same time,it is compared with conventional air disinfection with ultraviolet and surface disinfection with chlorine-containing disinfectant.Methods60 patients were randomly divided into 2 groups after being transferred out of EICU from 2020.5.28 to 2020.12.21.The experimental group was disinfected with new generation chlorine dioxide gas,and the control group was disinfected with ultraviolet in air disinfection and chlorine-containing disinfectant in the object surface. The two groups used natural sinking method and cotton swab smear method to sample the number of bacteria in the ward. And than we detect the qualified rate of bacteria before and after disinfection and the removal rate of bacteria with disinfectant.ResultsIn the experimental group, the qualified rates of the new-generation chlorine dioxide gas before and after air disinfection were 56.67%and 100%(P<0.05),and the qualified rates of objects before and after disinfection were 57.78%and 98.89%(P<0.01).The qualified rates of the control group before and after ultraviolet air disinfection were 66.67%and 93.33%(P<0.01),and the qualified rates of chlorine-containing disinfectants before and after disinfection were 82.22%and 100%(P<0.01).The qualified rates of sterilization after air disinfection in the experimental group and the control group were 100%and 93.33%(P>0.05),and the qualified rates of sterilization after surface disinfection were 98.89%and 100%(P>0.05).The removal rates of bacteria after air disinfection of the experimental group and the control group were 89.71%and 55.45%(P<0.01),respectively,the removal rates of bacteria after surface disinfection were 99.68%and 99.17%(P<0.01).ConclusionThe new generation chlorine dioxide gas has a significant disinfection effect, which can effectively disinfect the EICU ward, and the disinfection effect complies with Hospital Disinfection and Sanitation Standards. Its disinfection effect is equivalent to that of traditional air disinfection with ultraviolet and surface disinfection with chlorine-containing disinfectants. It is a low-concentration,high-efficiency and safe disinfectant.
