ObjectiveThis study aimed to understand the current situation of college students’ parents upbringing,depressive symptoms and influencing factors,explore the ways of parents teaching on college students’ depression and the effect of the guide for parents to set up the correct ideas,effectively promote adolescent mental health and the environment of building a harmonious,good family provide direction.MethodsThrough the method of literature analysis,the questionnaire was selected to form the questionnaire by the Center for Depression Depression Scale(CES-D),Parental Rearing Style Evaluation Scale(EMBU)and general sociodemographic data.Using the cluster sampling method,a total of 3650 college students in 4 disciplines were surveyed: science,engineering,liberal arts,and medicine in a comprehensive university.Statistical methods included: non-parametric test,independent sample t test,analysis of variance,Spearman correlation analysis,multiple linear regression,etc.Results1.In this study,970 people had obvious depressive symptoms,it means the positive rate of depressive symptoms was 27.28%2.Undergraduates of different majors had different levels of depression,fathers and mothers had different parenting styles in various dimensions,and parental parenting methods were different in different genders,different grades,and different majors(P<0.05).3.There were significant differences in the scores of various dimensions of parental rearing styles at different levels of depression.After adding gender,grade,and professional factors,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).4.In the three dimensions of Mother’s understanding(r=-0.185,P<0.001),Father’s understanding(R=-0.180,P<0.001),and Preference(R =-0.064,P<0.001)The above scores were negatively correlated with the CES-D scores.The father was Severely punished(R =0.240,P<0.001),Deny(R =0.254,P<0.001),and Over-protected(R =0.145,P<0.001),Mother’s Excessive interference(R =0.112,P<0.001),Deny(R r=0.261,P<0.001),Severely punishment(R =0.258,P<0.001)these six dimensions scores were positively correlated with the CES-D score,After adding gender,grade,and professional factors,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).5.Regression analysis showed that there were statistical differences in the scores of depression symptoms in the dimensions of Father’s understanding,Preference and Over-protection,the Mother’s understanding,the Excessive interference,the Severely punished,and the Preference for depressive symptoms.Conclusions1.The positive rate of depressive symptoms in college students was higher than other studies,and there were differences between different majors.2.In the father’s severe punishment dimension and the mother’s severe punishment dimension,there were differences between different grades,and targeted psychological adjustments should be made according to the characteristics of different situations of college students.3.Father’s emotional warmth and understanding,preference for the subject,punishment for severe dimension,excessive interference dimension,refusal to deny dimension,overprotection,mother emotional warmth and understanding,excessive interference dimension,refusal to deny dimension,punishment severe dimension,preference score for subject It is correlated with CES-D score.4.Parental rearing styles could predict individual depression scores,and scientific educational concepts should be established to promote the mental health of adolescents.
