Objective: To study the distribution regularity of syndrome types of recurrent oral ulcer(ROU)and the correlation between TCM syndrome types and anxiety and depression,so as to provide reference and basis for syndrome differentiation and treatment of this disease..Methods: Referring to the relevant information and expert opinions, the questionnaire of TCM syndrome differentiation and typing of ROU was formulated.Data of patients with ROU who met the inclusion criteria were collected from Stomatology Department of Shandong Provincial Hospital and outpatient department of TCM of Shandong Provincial Hospital.Diagnostic data of TCM and self-rating anxiety/depression scale were filled in to determine the TCM syndrome type and anxiety and depression score of patients.Statistical data were collected to analyze the distribution of TCM syndromes of ROU and the relationship between the syndromes and anxiety and depression.Result: 1.122 ROU patients were enrolled in this survey.Females accounted for 53.3% of the total cases. The number of females was larger than that of males, with statistical difference(p < 0.01).The average age of patients ranged from 16 to 60 years old,and the average age was 36.26 + 12 years old.The percentage of patients in each age group had statistical difference(P < 0.01).Among them, the majority of patients aged from 26 to 35 years old,48(39.34%).2.Statistical analysis of the number of patients with five syndrome types,Spleen Deficiency and Dampness Difficulty Syndrome(42.62%)>Heart and Spleen Accumulation Heat Syndrome(30.32%)>Yin Deficiency and Fire Prosperity Syndrome(9.83%)>Gastric Fire Superinflammation Syndrome(9.02%)>Spleen and kidney yang deficiency syndrome(8.02%),with statistical differences(p=0.00 < 0.05).3.Patients with emotional disorders(anxiety or depression score greater than normal)accounted for 59.84% of the total number of cases, with statistical difference(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in anxiety and depression scores between different genders(p > 0.05),and there was no correlation between age and anxiety and depression.4.Comparing anxiety scores of different syndromes,Heart and Spleen Accumulation Heat Syndrome>Yin Deficiency and Fire Prosperity Syndrome>Spleen and Kidney Yang Deficiency Syndrome>Gastric Fire Superinflammation Syndrome>Spleen Deficiency and Dampness Difficulty Syndrome, with statistical difference(P=0.005<0.05).5.Comparing depression scores of different syndromes,Spleen and Kidney Yang Deficiency Syndrome>Heart and Spleen Accumulation Heat Syndrome>Yin Deficiency and Fire Prosperity Syndrome>Spleen Deficiency and Dampness Difficulty Syndrome>Gastric Fire Superinflammation Syndrome, with statistical difference(P=0.000<0.05).Conclusion: 1.In this study, the incidence of ROU in females was higher than that in males. The majority of ROU patients were aged 26-35 years.2.Among the five syndromes used in this investigation, there are more patients with Spleen and Kidney Yang Deficiency Syndrome and Heart and Spleen Accumulation Heat Syndrome, suggesting that we should pay attention to protecting heart and spleen when preventing ROU.3.ROU patients have a high tendency of anxiety or depression, and attention should be paid to regulating their emotions during treatment.4.In patients with ROU,Heart and Spleen Accumulation Heat Syndrome is prone to anxiety, and Spleen and Kidney Yang Deficiency Syndrome is prone to depression, suggesting that attention should be paid to regulating the heart and temper and preventing endogenous pathogenic fire when improving the anxiety state of patients with ROU;while improving the depression state, attention should be paid to protecting the Yang of the spleen and kidney.
