Objective:To investigate the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome distribution of recurrent oral ulcer(ROU) and its relevant factors, provide a reference for clinical Syndrome differentiation and treatment of TCM.Methods:Consulted relevant information and expert opinions, formulated a scientific and unified questionnaire;investigated the patients with ROU who treated in the Chengdu University of TCM Affiliated Hospital Geriatric Department and West college of Stomatology Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, collected patients'basic information, four diagnostic methods of TCM and syndrome.Sorted the date and then used statistical methods to analyse the syndrome distribution and relevant factor of ROU.Result:(1)Among the TCM syndrome types of ROU,weak spleen qi syndrome was 39.2percent as the highest percentage, which is significantly different(p<0.05) from the other syndromes.(2)The difference of gender distribution among the TCM syndromes was statistically significant,All the patients with deficiency of qi and blood syndrome are females.Deficiency of qi and blood syndrome, compared with weak spleen qi syndrome and yang deficiency of spleen and kidney syndrome respectively, the gender distribution differences were statistically significant.(3)There was no statistical significance in age distribution among the TCM syndromes of ROU,also, there were no statistical significance in food partiality, inducing factors and emotion abnormality among these TCM syndromes.(4)Among the 120 ROU patients,59.2 percent are female, the highest incidence of ROU occurred from 30 years old to 59 years old.63.3 percent of the patients developed the disease with no obvious induction factors.71.1 percent of the patients had no food partiality.(5)Among the 120 ROU patients,96.7 percent of them had minor aphthous ulcers, the pecentage of patients who had major aphthous ulcers and hepetiform ulcer were only 2.5 percent and 0.8 percent respectively.Conclusion:1.The most common type in the TCM syndromes of ROU,is weak spleen qi syndrome, exuberance of stomach fire syndrome compared with weak spleen qi syndrome, cold heat complicated syndrome and syndrome of yang deficiency of spleen and kidney,is a rare case.2.Compared to weak spleen qi syndrome and yang deficiency of spleen and kidney syndrome, dificiency of qi and blood syndrome is more frequently taken on female patinets;there is no correlation between TCM syndromes and age, food partiality, predisposing factors of patients with ROU;emotion abnormality occurs in all the seven TCM syndromes.3.The incidence of ROU in females is higher than that in males, and ROU can happens to a person at any age, mainly of the patients are the young and middle-aged person.4.Most of the ROU patients develop aphthous ulcers without obvious inducing factors and food partiality.5.The most common type of ROU was minor aohthous ulcers, major aphthous ulcers and hepetiform ulcers were rare.
