| Objective Evaluating and comparing the clinical effect of electroacupuncture(EA)and hormone replacement therapy(HRT)in the treatment of perimenopausal insomnia by observing the different indexes,which is aim to assess the efficacy and safety of EA.Methods A total of 78 paticipants who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled.It randomly divided into the EA treatment group and the HRT group,39 cases foreach group.The EA treatment group was accepted EA treatment(once every other day,3 times per week for 3 consecutive months),while HRT group was accepted hormone replacement treatment also treated for 3 months.Pre-treatment,post-treatment,3 months follow-up,observing the variation of Kupperman symptom score(KI),Pittsburgh sleep Quality Index(PSQI),each factor of PSQI[subjective sleep quality(SQ),the time to fallasleep(TFA),bedtime(BT),sleep efficiency(SE),somnipathy(SP),daytime function(DF)],Menopausal-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire(MENQOL),serum estradiol(E2),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)and then evaluating its safety.Results ①There were no significant difference in age,disease duration between the two groups(P>0.05).②Baseline comparison:There were no significant difference in KI score,PSQI score,each factor of PSQI score,MENQOL score,and serum E2,FSH levels between the two groups(P>0.05).③Intra-group comparison:Compared with pre-treatment,there were significant differences in KI score,PSQI score,each factor of PSQI score,MENQOL score,E2 levels between two groups when in the post-treatment and 3 months followed up(P<0.05).Compared with pre-treatment,there were no significant difference in FSH levels in the EA group when in the post-treatment and 3 months followed up(P>0.05),while HRT group declined only in the post-treatment(P<0.05).Compared with post-treatment,there were no significant differences in KI score,PSQI score,each factor of PSQI score,E2 levels,FSH levels in the EA group when in the 3 months follow-up(P>0.05),excepted the MENQOL score(P<0.05).While there were significant differences in KI score,PSQI score,SQ,TFA,BT,SP,MENQOL score,E2 levels,FSH levels in the HRT group in the 3 months follow-up(P<0.05),excepted the SE and DF(P>0.05).④Intergroup comparison:There were no significant differences in KI score,MENQOL score,FSH levels between EA group and HRT group in the pre-treatment,post-treatment,3 months follow-up.There were significant differences in PSQI score,each factor of PSQI score between EA group and HRT group in 3 months Follow-up(P<0.05),while no significant differences in E2 levels(P>0.05).There were significant differences in PSQI score,TFA,BT,SE,DF,E2 level between two groups in after treatment(P<0.05),while no significant difference in SQ and SP(P>0.05),⑤Two groups were effective in clinical effect and had similar effects(P>0.05).Conclusion EA therapy could improve perimenopausal insomnia and the quality of life in perimenopausal women.The therapeutic effect of EA was equivalent to HRT for treatment of perimenopausal insomnia.EA therapy could adjust hormone levels of perimenopausal patients.EA treatment had demonstrated excellent efficacy in perimenopausal insomnia and were safe in treating perimenopausal insomnia,which avoided the side effects of HRT. |
