Since the reform and opening up,a large number of migrant workers have poured into the city and become the backbone of the labor market in developed areas.However,at the same time,the labor supply situation of migrant workers needs to be improved.They are mainly manual labor,and their working environment has health risks,and the labor intensity is high,the phenomenon of excessive labor is serious,and the potential harm to the body is more serious.Therefore,medical security has become an important concern of migrant workers.As an important part of the social security system,social medical insurance can greatly improve the accessibility of medical services and the health level of migrant workers.On the other hand,it can alleviate the economic pressure of medical treatment and enhance their ability to prevent disease risks,thus affecting the labor supply of migrant workers.Since the State Council promulgated and implemented the new health care reform policy in 2009,China has gradually established a medical security system covering all urban and rural residents,which is composed of three parts: the basic medical insurance system for urban employees,the basic medical insurance system for urban residents and the new rural cooperative medical insurance system.After the integration of urban and rural medical insurance in 2016,the basic medical insurance system for urban residents and the new rural cooperative medical insurance system are integrated Rural cooperative medical insurance is integrated into basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents.Since then,the main types of social medical insurance for migrant workers are basic medical insurance for urban workers and basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents.Although the participation rate of migrant workers in medical insurance has increased in recent years,there is still a gap between the actual situation of migrant workers’ medical insurance participation and the central government’s requirement of universal participation,and migrant workers who participate in different types of medical insurance also get different medical insurance.How to protect the medical rights and interests of migrant workers to alleviate the phenomenon of excessive labor,improve the labor quality and efficiency of migrant workers,so as to improve the status quo of labor supply,is a social problem that needs to be considered and solved all the time.In view of this,this paper studies the impact of medical insurance on the labor supply of migrant workers.Firstly,this paper combs the relevant literature and theory of medical insurance and labor supply,and studies the influence mechanism of medical insurance on labor supply of migrant workers from the perspective of health effect and income effect.Secondly,using the special survey data of the floating population in 2017,this paper constructs an econometric empirical analysis model to empirically test the impact of medical insurance on the labor supply of migrant workers,and further analyzes the differences in the impact of different types of medical insurance on the labor supply of migrant workers.Then,through the intermediary effect model,it proves that there are health intermediary effect and income intermediary effect of medical insurance on labor supply of migrant workers Should,Finally,we use the PSM propensity score matching to further eliminate the possible self selection bias in the model and test the heterogeneity,and draw the main conclusions of this paper: medical insurance plays a positive role in improving the labor supply status of migrant workers,which can reduce the labor time of migrant workers,reduce the labor pressure of migrant workers,and alleviate the phenomenon of excessive labor Compared with medical insurance for urban and rural residents,the effect of medical insurance for urban workers is more obvious;the effect of medical insurance on labor supply of migrant workers has certain individual characteristics and distribution heterogeneity;in addition,there are health effects and health effects in the influence mechanism of medical insurance on labor supply Income effect.According to the conclusion,this paper puts forward relevant suggestions: regulate the working hours of migrant workers,improve the participation rate of migrant workers’ urban workers’ medical insurance,and integrate urban workers’ medical insurance with urban and rural residents’ medical insurance in the future,establish a unified medical insurance system nationwide,constantly improve China’s medical insurance system,so that the medical insurance can be shared by the whole people;local governments should reasonably control public health In view of the heterogeneity effect of medical insurance on the labor supply of migrant workers,we should gradually expand the scope of medical insurance benefits to migrant workers step by step and focus on the differences of migrant
