Objective1.To investigate the nutritional changes of patients with obesity after Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG).2.To observe the compliance of nutritional supplements after LSG and compare the nutritional deficiency rates and levels between the supplements and non-supplements groups.MethodsThis is a retrospective analysis of bariatric database of LSG postoperative patients who follow up LSG from January 2017 to December 2019 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University.Datum included demographic data, anemia and nutrient indicators, and nutritional supplements for preoperative and postoperative 6,12 and 24 month. To compare the trends of anemia and nutrient deficiency before and after surgery, and to compare the differences between different nutrient supplement conditions on anemia and nutrient deficiency.Results1.The study included 128 patients,28.21±9.9 years old,BMI 37.27±4.88 kg/㎡,42 men,86 female, postoperative 24 months% EWL median 68.13%.2.Anemia rate was 3.1% before LSG,4.6%,4.5% and 25% at 6,12 and 24 months after LSG,all of them were female, but the number of female who gave birth to the child was more significant(p<0.05).3.The most obvious at pre-LSG was the deficiency of zinc, and the deficiency rate was as high as 26.4%,followed by vitamins B6(20.8%),vitamins B1(19.2%),vitamins E(17.5%),vitamin C(15.8%),albumin(14.1%),prealbumin(13.7%),and iron(10.9%).25-OH-D deficiency rate(<10 ng/ml)in this study was only 18.9%,and only 1 of the remaining 103 patients had a 25-OH-D level value greater than 30ng/ml,that is,99.2% of the patients included in this study had 25-OH-D deficiency or insufficient.4.Prealbumin(39.7%),zinc(38.5%)and vitamin B12(15.3%)were the most common nutrient deficiency in post-LSG 6 months.Prealbumin(26.2%),zinc(25.8%)and vitamin B6(14.9%)were the most common nutrient deficiency in post-LSG 12 months and ferritin(45.8%),iron(29.2%),zinc(26.1%)and vitamin B12(25%)were the most common nutrient deficiency in post-LSG 24 months.5.The levels of zinc, prealbumin, folic acid,25-OH-D,vitamin B6 in the supplemented group were higher than those in the non-supplement group at all stages after operation. The nutritional levels of the supplement group were higher than those of the non-supplemented group, except for copper blue protein, copper, ferritin, vitamins A,vitamin E.6.The rates of taking multivitamin tablets were 60%,35.8% and 16.7% in 6,12 and24 months after LSG,and 55.5%,28.4% and 16.7% in calcium tablets.Conclusions1.The incidence of anemia in Chinese patients is low before LSG and 6 to 12 months after LSG,and the highest in 24 months post-LSG,all of them are iron deficiency anemia, and the anemia rate of fertile female is higher.2.Nutritional deficiency is common in Chinese patients before bariatric surgery.High deficiency includes zinc, vitamins B6,vitamins E,vitamins C,albumin, prealbumin, iron and 25-OH-D.3.Some nutrient deficiencies persist or even worsen after surgery, with higher rates including prealbumin, ferritin, zinc, iron, vitamin B12 and 25-OH-D.4.The nutritional supplement can improve the level of nutrient elements after LSG.However, the compliance of patients with nutritional supplements was poor after bariatric surgery, and the postoperative follow-up rate was low.
