Objective: Granulomatous mastitis(GM)is a relatively rare benign chronic inflammatory disease of the breast. At present, the etiology and pathogenesis of GM are not clear, and there are various treatment options. If the treatment is not appropriate, the disease will not prolong in addition, some patients even had their entire breasts removed as a result, which brought economic burdens to patients and also seriously affected their physical and mental health. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the clinical efficacy of glucocorticoid combined with surgery in the treatment of granulomatous mastitis and the appearance of the breast after treatment, hoping to provide guidance for the treatment of GM.Methods: A retrospective analysis of the complete clinical data of71 pathologically diagnosed GM patients admitted to the Department of Breast Surgery,Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University from January 2019 to August 2020.According to the different treatment methods, they were divided into: glucocorticoid combined surgical treatment group(group A),a total of 33 cases(46.5%);surgical treatment group(group B),a total of 38 cases(53.5%).SPSS 25.0 statistical software was used to statistically analyze the age, course of disease, maximum tumor diameter, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hospitalization days, hospitalization expenses, total effective rate of treatment, recurrence rate and breast appearance after treatment in the two groups. Results: 1.There were no statistically significant differences between group A and group B in terms of age, course of disease, maximum tumor diameter, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hospitalization days, and total hospitalization expenses(P>0.05).Comparable between the two groups.2.The total effective rates of treatment for GM patients in group A and group B were 93.9%(31/33)and 76.3%(29/38)respectively,the difference was statistically significant(P = 0.041);the recurrence rate was 9.1%(3/33),28.9%(11/38),the difference was statistically significant(P=0.036);the excellent and good rates of breast appearance after treatment were 87.9%(29/33)and 57.9%(22/38),the difference was Statistically significant(P=0.005).Conclusion: The etiology and pathogenesis of granulomatous mastitis are currently unclear, and there are various treatment options. Each option has a certain effect on it,but the total effective rate, recurrence rate, and differences in breast appearance after treatment are different. In this study, the total effective rate of glucocorticoid combined with surgery in the treatment of granulomatous mastitis, the excellent rate of breast appearance is higher than that of surgery alone, and the recurrence rate is lower than that of surgery alone. The clinical effect of glucocorticoid combined with surgery in the treatment of granulomatous mastitis is better than surgery alone, and it is worthy of clinical recommendation.
