| Objective In order to provide a scientific basis for improving the quality of medical treatment and reducing the mortality rate of hospitalized children,a retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical characteristics of hospitalized children who died in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University from 2011 to 2020.Methods By retrospective analysis, the medical history data of 39,005 children aged 0-14 who were hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University from January 1,2011 to December 31,2020 and 69 children who died during the same period were collected.SPSS21.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results 1.From January 1,2010 to December 31,2010,the total mortality rate of children in a tertiary class A hospital was 1.77‰.The mortality rate in the last 5 years(1.27‰)was lower than that in the first 5 years(2.62‰),and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.There was no statistical significance in the seasonal and gender distribution of the mortality of hospitalized children(P > 0.05).3.The median length of hospital stay for deaths was 0.70(0.27,3.00)days.The proportion of deaths within 1 day was the highest(56.52%).4.The 29 days to 5 years old group had the highest mortality ratio(46.38%),followed by the ≤28 days old group(27.54%),and the > 5 years old group(26.09%).The highest mortality rate was found in the ≤28 days group(3.24‰),followed by the 29 days to 5 years group(1.80‰),and the lowest mortality rate was found in the 5 years group(1.17‰),and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The mortality rate in the second 5years(1.23‰)in the 29 days to 5 years old group was lower than that in the first 5 years(2.79‰),and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).There was no significant difference in the mortality rate between the first 5 years and the second 5 years in the other two age groups(P > 0.05).5.The top 5 causes of death were neonatal diseases(23.19%),respiratory diseases(18.84%),accidental injuries(14.49%),congenital malformation(13.04%),and digestive diseases(10.15%).Different ages ago three causes of death are respectively:28 days or less group for neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(31.58%),asphyxia(15.79%),digestive tract malformation(15.79%),29 days ~ 5 years old group was pneumonia(25.00%),unintentional injuries(12.50%),congenital heart disease(12.50%),> 5 years old group for accidental injury(33.33%),pneumonia(27.78%),acute lymphoblastic leukemia(11.11%).The top three causes of death in different living environments were accidental injury(33.33%),pneumonia(22.22%),asphyxia(22.22%)in urban areas,pneumonia(21.67%),accidental injury(11.67%)and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(10.00%)in rural areas.6.The top five diseases with fatality rate were Reye’s syndrome(60.00%),pulmonary hemorrhage(33.33%),anaphylactic shock(20.00%),chronic nephritis(14.29%)and brain tumor(12.50%).Conclusions 1.The mortality rate of hospitalized children within 5 years was significantly lower than that of the first 5 years.2.The proportion of death was highest in the 29 days to 5 years group. The mortality rate was highest in the group ≤28 days.3.The top five causes of death were: neonatal diseases, respiratory diseases, accidental injuries, congenital deformities, and digestive diseases.4.The top five disease fatality rates were: Reye’s syndrome, pulmonary hemorrhage, anaphylactic shock, chronic nephritis, and brain tumor. |
