Clinoptilolite,as the main component of zeolite,has the characteristics of adsorption,ion exchange and catalysis.Clinoptilolite can improve the organism environment,the immunity and the growth of animals.However,the study on the effect of clinoptilolite products with new technology on pig health is limited,and the opinions on the amount and effect of clinoptilolite products are controversial.The aim of this study was to estimate the effect of varying levels of clinoptilolite on the growth and health of Suhuai fattening pig from the aspects of growth performance,slaughter performance,blood physiology and biochemistry,immune indexes and intestinal morphology,so as to provide theoretical basis for the application of clinoptilolite in fattening pig production.A total of 40 healthy Suhuai castrates of about 50 kg were randomly divided into control group(basic diet group),test group Ⅰ(0.5%clinoptilolite group),test group Ⅱ(1.0%clinoptilolite group)and test groupⅢ(2.0%clinoptilolite group),10 pigs in each group,feeding with pig growth performance measurement system,and recording the feed intake and body weight of each pig every day.Each pig was counted as one repetition.Pigs were fed basic diets freely for 10 days in the pretest period.The trial period was 64 days.In order to objectively evaluate the effect of clinoptilolite on the growth performance of finishing pigs in different periods,two stages of fattening were selected for analysis and comparison(the first stage weight was 56-68 kg and the second stage weight was 83-98 kg).At the end of the experiment,the pigs were slaughtered,and the meat samples were collected to determine the carcass and meat quality.The blood,mucous membrane and intestinal segment were collected to measure blood physiology and biochemistry,immune indexes and intestinal morphology.The test results are divided into two parts:1.Effect of clinoptilolite on growth performance,carcass traits and meat quality of Suhuai pigsThe results showed that the average daily food intake(ADFI)increased linearly with increasing levels of clinoptilolite in the first and second stages(P=0.019;P = 0.047),and ADFI of Group Ⅲ was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).According to the fitting growth curves,the turning point in growth of control grop was 50.26th day,with the weight of 86.06 kg and the highest daily gain of 726.30 g.The turning point in growth of group I was 40.22th day,with the weight of 87.15 kg and the highest daily gain of 743.38 g.The turning point in growth of Group Ⅱ was 38.27th day,with the weight of 89.69 kg and the highest daily gain of 814.48 g.The turning point in growth of Group Ⅲ was 45.98th day,with the weight of 89.02 kg and the highest daily gain of 854.98 g.With increasing levels of clinoptilolite,the eye muscle area(LMA)increased first and then decreased second power(P=0.011)and the LMA of group Ⅰ and Ⅱ were significantly higher than that of the control group and group Ⅲ(P<0.05),the intramuscular fat(IMF)increased linearly(P=0.007)and the IMF of group Ⅲ was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).2.Effect of clinoptilolite on blood biochemistry,blood routine,immune indexes and intestinal morphology of Suhuai pigsThe results showed that with increasing levels of clinoptilolite,triglyceride(TG)and serum alkaline phosphatase increased first and then decreased(P=0.051;P=0.052)and TG of group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that of group Ⅲ(P<0.01).Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC)increased linearly(P=0.024).The variation of RBC distribution width was significant(RDW-CW)decreased linearly(P=0.011).With increasing levels of clinoptilolite,the serum immunoglobulin G(IgG),intestinal mucosal IgG and intestinal mucosal secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA)increased linearly(P=0.035;P=0.005;P=0.042)and the serum IgG in group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01)and the intestinal IgG of group Ⅲ were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The duodenal crypt depth(CD)decreased linearly(P=0.009)and the duodenal CD of group Ⅲ was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01).To sum up,it is considered from the aspects of improving the average daily intake,growth curve turning point weight,intramuscular fat,average hemoglobin concentration of red blood cells,serum IgG,IgG of intestinal mucosa,reducing the coefficient of variation of red blood cell distribution width and depth of duodenal crypt,the addition of 2%clinoptilolite is profitable.From the point of increasing the eye muscle area,alkaline phosphatase and triglyceride,the addition of 1.0%clinoptilolite is profitable.
