A Comparative Study On The Urban Image Of New And Old Urban Area Based On Urban Grain ——Take Jinan’s Old And New Urban Area As An Example

The poet N.Higgemer once said,"There are two things in a person’s life that can never be forgotten.These are the face of a mother and the face of a city." From the beginning time of reform and open,China’s urban construction is advancing by leaps and bounds.The scale of cities continues to expand,and new cities are blooming all over China.However,due to the fast speed and large scale of new city construction in China,the appearance of new cities looks very similar.This not only makes our city face the "characteristic crisis",but also brings a series of urban problems.Urban spaces seem complex and ever-changing,but there are regular patterns that lead to this phenomenon.Over the years,experts and scholars have devoted themselves to analyzing the internal changes of cities through the external appearance of urban space.Urban Grain is not only a concept to describe the characteristics of urban space,but also a method to analyze and perspective urban problems.Urban Grain was first proposed in the1960 s,and the concept have been continuously enriched by many scholars.Urban Grain is one of the elements that make up the urban texture.Coarse grain and fine grain are one of its important attribute characteristics,mainly emphasizing the size of urban land;another attribute characteristic is clear-grain and fuzzy-grain,which is used to describe the clarity or ambiguity of the intermixing of different elements of the city in space.The change of Urban Grain has an important impact on urban form,but due to its many related influencing factors,the research perspectives and results are scattered,and it is often confused with concepts such as Urban Texture and Urban Fabric,which obscures its value as a theoretical perspective.The thesis firstly conducts basic research on Urban Grain,and proposes Urban Grain spatial index based on suitable for China’s national conditions.Secondly,after clarifying the concept of the old and new urban area and sorting out the development of the old and new urban area in Jinan,the research area were selected.Through Bigemap,on-the-spot investigation,public information and other ways,the data required for the research are obtained,and the Urban Grain spatial indicators were visually analyzed based on Arc GIS software.Then,the spatial index data obtained by the visual analysis was imported into SPSS,and the Pearson correlation coefficient was selected to analyze the correlation between Urban Grain and spatial indicators to verify the hypothesis and determine its impact on Urban Grain.On the other hand,the research and analysis of the urban image of the old and new urban areas in Jinan are carried out from the perspectives of individual intuitive feelings and objective behavioral of the group,in order to verify the effect of different Urban Grain on the space of the old and new cities.Finally,the research is summarized in the following points:clarifying the related concepts of Urban Grain,determining the spatial index of Urban Grain,and summarizing the impact of Urban Grain on urban image.And according to the research results,suggestions are put forward to reasonably increase the proportion of fine grain in the future urban construction from two aspects of policy regulation and design regulation.
