Research On Coordinated Development Of Suzhou Port Logistics And Hinterland Economy

Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has been opening up to the outside world at an ever-increasing level,and the development of the logistics industry in the tertiary sector has become a top priority for economic development,with port logistics playing an increasingly important role in trade development.Not only can the port provide the basic logistics needs of the city,but also its location is conducive to the city giving full play to its resources,forming a highly integrated industrial chain,ensuring efficient logistics activities,achieving low-cost operations and bringing more trade opportunities.As a container port in the northern wing of the “One Body,Two Wings”,Suzhou Port ranks first among the inland ports in China in terms of cargo throughput and occupies an important position in the development pattern of the Yangtze River Delta port cluster.This paper studies the interactive and synergistic relationship between port logistics and hinterland economy in Suzhou Port,which on the one hand provides new ideas for studying the relationship between port logistics and hinterland economy,and enriches and improves the theoretical basis for the synergistic development of port and hinterland;on the other hand,it provides a template for the development of logistics and hinterland economy in other ports,and provides reference for economic policy makers and port investors.Based on the elaboration of relevant theoretical concepts,this paper firstly analyses the development history of Suzhou Port and the hinterland economy.Next,a vector autoregressive model is used to study the interaction between the main economic variables of port logistics and the hinterland economy of Suzhou Port.It is found that there is a long-term equilibrium interaction between port logistics and the hinterland economy of Suzhou Port,but the influence of Suzhou Port on the hinterland economy is more significant than that of the hinterland economy on Suzhou Port.Then,based on the synergy development evaluation model,we analyse the degree of synergy between the two subsystems of port logistics and hinterland economy in Suzhou Port.The results show that the degree of synergy goes through a rising process from low to high,and the sequential parameters such as the number of berths,tertiary industry and fixed asset investment have a crucial influence on the degree of synergy between port logistics and hinterland economy.Finally,four development suggestions are made on how to strengthen the relationship between port logistics and the hinterland economy in Suzhou port: first,optimise the structure of the three major industries and promote the development of the digital economy.Second,accelerate the construction of infrastructure and construct an integrated transport interconnection.Third,develop a blueprint for port planning to achieve optimal allocation of resources.Fourth,implement the new development concept and accelerate the construction of green ports.
