| With the continuous development of economic globalization and international trade, the economic status of ports is becoming more and more important, and the functions of port logistics are also constantly changing. As the gateway of port cities, port logistics depends on the transportation demand brought by the economic development of cities and hinterlands. As an important infrastructure, once a port is formed,it can promote the development of the city and hinterland economy. It is of great significance in improving the level of urban development, optimizing port resources, promoting industrial structure upgrades, and cultivating new economic growth points.Guangzhou Port is the origin port of the ancient Chinese Maritime Silk Road, the traditional logistics, business flow, and information distribution center in southern China, and the largest foreign trade port and comprehensive main hub port in southern China.Understanding the interactive relationship between Guangzhou Port’s port logistics and the economy of the hinterland of Guangzhou Port and the degree of synergy between the two will not only help to enrich the current research on the port-hinterland relationship, but also promote the healthy interaction and coordinated development of the economy between Guangzhou Port and the hinterland, thus has the dual meaning of theory and practice. This article introduces related concepts such as port logistics, hinterland economy, and synergy. The qualitative analysis of the interaction between port logistics and hinterland economy and its external environmental conditions is carried out.It is pointed out that port logistics can promote the hinterland economy growth through agglomeration economy, economies of scale, and industrial correlation effects. The economic development of the hinterland will promote the increase of port cargo throughput and affect the development of port logistics. However, the above-mentioned positive mutual promotion requires a smooth port hinterland passage,a high degree of foreign trade dependence in the hinterland and low competitiveness of other transportation methods. Then, this paper analyzes the economic development process of Guangzhou Port Logistics and the hinterland of Guangzhou Port, and finds that both the Guangzhou Port Logistics and the hinterland economy are developing rapidly, but the growth of the hinterland’s GDP and total trade volume has declined in recent years. In particular, the decline in foreign trade dependence is more obvious.Again, the vector autoregressive model was used to study the interaction between the port logistics of Guangzhou Port and the main economic variables of the hinterland economy. It was found that the increase in GDP of the hinterland had a negative impact on the cargo throughput of Guangzhou Port, the cargo throughput of Guangzhou Port had a positive impact on the total amount of imports and exports has a positive effect. Finally, the evaluation model of the synergy index was established, and the internal coordination and adaptation degree of the port logistics and hinterland economic subsystem, the coupling and coordination degree between the port logistics and hinterland economic subsystem were analyzed. It is found that the degree of coupling coordination between the Guangzhou port harbor logistics subsystem and hinterland economic subsystem has experienced a process of increasing from low to high, and this improvement is mainly due to the improvement of coordination and adaptation within the subsystem. This article proposes to strengthen the construction of Guangzhou Port, and strive to enhance the competitive advantage of Guangzhou Port in the shipping industry and transportation industry,so as to play the role of the growth pole and promote the economic development of the hinterland;the government needs to take measures to continue to improve the industrial structure of the hinterland economy, improve the domestic economic demand of the hinterland, expand the import and export of the hinterland, and increase the cargo throughput of the Guangzhou Port, thereby promoting the coordinated development of port logistics and the economic hinterland. |
