As a core industry of manufacturing industry, automobile industry can promote economic development and reflect China’s industrialization process and the competitive level of manufacturing industry. After China’s entry into WTO,China’s automobile industry continues to expand the level of opening up and develops rapidly. At the same time, the international competitiveness is also gradually improving. In recent years,China’s automobile production and sales has always been at the head of the world. At present,China has become a large automobile manufacturing country in the world, but it is not a powerful automobile country. At present, the export proportion of China’s automobile industry is small, the technical level of automobile products is low,and there is a lack of brand awareness.Since the 1980 s,developed economies have begun to shift from industrial economic model to service-oriented economic model. These changes will promote the development of service industry around the world, and will also be conducive to upgrade industry structure of manufacturing industry and the development of other industries. In recent years,As China’s producer services industry has developed rapidly,a large number of foreign capital has entered the Chinese market, and the FDI in producer services industry has increased rapidly, reaching 84.258 billion dollars by 2020,accounting for more than 50 percent of China’s actually utilized foreign capital. At present, many scholars have found that the rapid development of producer services plays an important role in improving the competitiveness of manufacturing industry. Therefore, there are four impact mechanisms: technology spillover effect, capital accumulation effect, crowding in effect and crowding out effect, and this thesis studies the effect of producer service FDI on the international competitiveness of automobile industry through above four ways. This thesis represents the current status of FDI in producer services in China, and analyzes the development status of automobile industry in China from the aspects of export status, trade structure, market distribution and export competitiveness.Through the analysis,it can be seen that FDI in producer services is developing rapidly, the export of automobile industry is increasing, and the export competitiveness has been improved. However, there are also some problems, such as the level of automobile competitiveness is still low,the proportion of export volume in the world market is still small, and the lack of brand construction. In order to dig into the connection between foreign direct investment in producer services and the export competitiveness of automobile industry, this thesis calculates the competitiveness index of automobile subdivided industries as the explained variable and take the Producer Service Industry FDI and its segment Industry FDI as the main explanatory variable, and constructs a model for regression analysis. The results show that FDI in producer services is positively correlated with the international competitiveness of automobile industry, moreover, the influence of FDI in the sub industry of producer services on the export competitiveness of automobile industry is different. Finally, based on the previous theoretical analysis and empirical regression results, this thesis puts forward some suggestions, for example the government needs to increase the openness of producer service FDI,take differentiated measures for subdivided producer service FDI and create a fair competitive environment to ensure the good development of China’s automobile industry. For China’s automobile enterprises,we need to pay attention to improving their own technical level and innovation ability, and improving the level of after-sales service and brand influence.
