In recent years, with the acceleration of urbanization process and the promotion of rural revitalization construction strategy, the protection and renewal of traditional villages have become the focus of research.Due to the development of current conservation research and practice, many traditional villages facing decline have been protected in time, and the overall space environment has been greatly improved. However, there are still a large number of traditional villages with high historical and cultural value that are facing a difficult situation. The rapid development of economic construction in southern Jiangsu Province has caused a certain impact on the traditional villages which were relatively closed and stable in the past.On the one hand, with the migration of a large number of people, the problems of hollowing out and aging of villages are becoming increasingly prominent. The social structure and interpersonal relationship formed in the traditional farming society are facing the loosening and disintegration of the ideology and the change of life style. As a result, the internal space of traditional villages has been difficult to adapt to the diversified spatial needs of villagers. On the other hand, due to the lack of a comprehensive understanding of traditional villages in the actual planning, the phenomenon of constructive destruction and homogenization continue to appear, and the material space of villages shows a trend of gradual decline, which has produced a great obstacle to the realization of the value of traditional villages themselves. What is hidden behind is that the original culture of traditional villages is difficult to continue, and the villagers cannot get a sense of belonging and identity from it.Aiming at these problems, the study of the man-land relationship in traditional villages from the perspective of sociological network, which is dominated by structure and relationship, can better reflect its spatial characteristics in essence. Finally,it is of great significance to improve the social value of traditional villages and promote the sustainable development of traditional villages by using relevant theoretical basis such as organic renewal and endogenous development to guide the proposal of conservation and renewal planning strategies for traditional villagesTaking traditional villages in southern Jiangsu Province as the research object, this paper combines the theory and method of social network analysis to construct the spatial network model of traditional villages and the villager behavior network model, attempts to analyze the relationship between the physical space structure of traditional villages and the spatial use needs of villagers from two aspects, focusing on the social needs and behavioral characteristics of the active subjects of villagers.Furthermore, the objective law of complex system construction of human settlement environment in traditional villages is summarized, and the spatial structure characteristics of traditional villages and the relationship between supply and demand are analyzed. The main contents are as following:(1)This study combined landscape architecture design concept and social network analysis(SNA)methods and principles to build the physical space network model and the villagers behavior network model.(2)To select indicators for material of space structure and characteristics of social demand two aspects carries on the analysis. On the one hand,in the physical space network model, the selection of Centralization,Degree Centrality, small world values(SWI)and Convergent correlation as parameters, analyze the integration of spatial distribution of traditional villages, the accessibility of spatial nodes, the connectivity of spatial systems and the distribution of spatial clusters for quantitative analysis and research,so as to have a deep understanding of the structural characteristics of spatial distribution of traditional villages, which is also the basis for the comparative analysis with the spatial needs of villagers in the later stage. On the other hand, demand for space use level from the villagers, according to the investigation to collect the villagers the behavior of the path between the space node, select Centralization,Degree Centrality, small world values(SWI)and Cut points as the parameter index, respectively from the network equilibrium of group behavior preference agglomeration spatial cognition and activity space space usage of villagers analysis. Finally, based on the overall analysis of spatial structure-social needs, this paper discusses the correlation between the material spatial structure contained in traditional villages and the social needs of villagers, and analyzes the spatial layout of traditional villages, such as the configuration of spatial nodes of traffic flow lines.(3)Finally,a typical traditional village Lu xiang ancient village in southern Jiangsu Province was selected as a sample for empirical analysis.Based on the analysis of the results of the selected indicators, the structural characteristics of the case are summarized. On the basis of protecting the authenticity of traditional villages and meeting the social needs of their internal villagers, the planning strategies for the protection and renewal of traditional villages in southern Jiangsu Province are proposed. It is expected to effectively realize the sustainable development of traditional villages and provide new ideas for protecting the social value of traditional villages in southern Jiangsu and promoting their sustainable development.
