With the rapid development of today’s society and urbanization construction, the urgent requirements for spiritual and social cultural quality of life will inevitably increase correspondingly, and the quality requirements for residential environment are also changing.Housing is the product of human beings to develop and transform the natural environment in order to meet their own needs, and it is also the contradiction and integration between human social needs and environmental conditions.Especially in cold cities, the contradiction between the needs of the current situation and the environmental conditions is more prominent.People continue to explore and solve these contradictions in the practical application of residential construction projects in cold cities, which makes the residential projects in cold cities get faster development and improvement. Therefore,it is of unique significance to summarize the advantages and characteristics of the construction technology of indoor and outdoor transition space in the actual project, and explore its future development direction. In the design of modern residential buildings, compared with the main space, transition space is an important design field that can not be ignored in the design of residential buildings.Transition space can be said that two or more entities with different properties interact with each other when they connect with each other. It is the focus of opposition, conflict and mutual adjustment in the whole space field. It is the connection point and transformation point of the interior and exterior space of the house. As one of the most complex spaces in urban housing in cold region,it is an important carrier and an organic component of modern housing. Its cold adaptability and adjustable performance is obviously underestimated and lack of in-depth research, resulting in the situation that it is out of touch with the demand. In residential building space, the transition space from outdoor to indoor is entrance space, and the transition space between external space and internal space is balcony space. At present, most of the houses include these two kinds of transitional space, which are also the most easily ignored spaces in residential design, and also an important key to directly affect people’s daily life and living experience satisfaction. This paper analyzes the types of entrance and balcony transition space in residential buildings through the method of model language expression. This paper mainly adopts the scientific research mode of theoretical research and practical summary, with the design idea of multi angle and comprehensive analysis, systematically searches, collects and integrates the academic literature in a variety of related research fields and directions. This paper makes a detailed and systematic summary of the research meaning, research objectives, research contents, research means and methods.Through detailed field investigation, this paper studies the utilization and current situation of indoor and outdoor transition space of residential buildings in cold regions, summarizes some existing difficulties and problems, analyzes specific research and solutions, and influences the design of indoor and outdoor transition space of residential buildings in cold regions from various angles, such as adapting to the climate in cold regions, meeting people’s living requirements in cold regions, and reflecting people’s living personality Factors, design analysis, design principles, design optimization strategies and so on are summarized and summarized. Finally, they are applied to the specific design practice, which provides a new idea for our design work and supplements the basic theory of residential building design in cold cities in China.
