| The urban waterfront space establishes a boundary and connection between the urban artificial environment and the natural environment.Its architectural design,space composition,and traffic arrangement are all important factors which can affect urban development.The waterfront area was once the birthplace and social life center of many cities.However,with the industrial revolution and urbanization,the waterfront living area was replaced by warehouses and factories,and gradually abandoned.With the increasing awareness of environmental protection,people have now rediscovered the value of the waterfront,and there has been a phenomenon of waterfront regeneration.However,the current waterfront space still has problems such as single form and function,and lack of privacy.Therefore,the author hopes to discuss and study the solutions to this problem.From the perspective of variable buildings,this research integrates theoretical and practical research and points out that variable buildings that can be flexibly adjusted according to changes in the environment and use requirements are very suitable for widespread application in waterfront areas.First of all,through relevant literature research,the author analyzed and sort out the theoretical basis,classification and value of variable architecture.Secondly,through field investigations on four waterfront areas in the UK,France,and Denmark,the author summarized the existing waterfront space activation strategies,and pointed out its shortcomings.Finally,combined with case studies,the author explored the variable architectural design strategy under the goal-oriented improvement of waterfront vitality,and took the architectural design of Venice waterfront as an example to test the feasibility and adaptability of the proposed strategy.Through professional design or special technical means,variable buildings can quickly realize changes in location,form,and internal space.The unique architectural shape,personalized private space and diversified use functions created by it will effectively solve the problem of insufficient waterfront space vitality,and provide new ideas and references for the development and utilization of urban waterfront space. |
