With the process of urbanization, the development of urban public space represented by modern parks has been paid more and more attention. These modern parks have been built for more than 100 years, which witness the process of the city from modernization to modernization, and are an important part of the city.Up to now,on the one hand, modern parks have exposed some problems, such as lack of vitality, simply becoming urban green space, and tending to be amusement parks. On the other hand, previous studies on modern parks mainly focus on encyclopedic data compilation, and rarely interpret the development incentives of parks in combination with the background of the times. How to re understand the modern park, what role modern park should play in the city in the new era,and what trend modern park development will have in the future, thes e problems are worthy of urban planners’ consideration. The Northeast modern park is subordinate to the modern park system of China.Different from the southeast coastal and inland cities,Northeast China is in a special historical period and geographical location. The process of urban development has been influenced by the culture of neighboring countries(mainly Japan and Russia)for a long time, resulting in the emergence of modern parks with different styles.Based on the typical modern parks in Northea st China, this study explores the development process of modern parks from the perspectives of power, capital and culture, and tries to respond to the above problems.First of all, this study consulted local chronicles, modern newspapers and other historic al documents, which filled the gaps in the field of modern park research in China.Secondly,it summarizes three models of the development of modern parks in Northeast China: the reproduction model of Chinese gardens, the reproduction model of modern parks in Japan, and the symbiosis model of multiple garden styles. Finally,it selects Longsha Park,Shengli Park, and Zhaolin Park as the research objects of the three models. Finally, the paper introduces the theory of space production, relying on the triple circulation of capital and the dialectics of space, and analyzes the logic and mechanism of park development in different periods from the three dimensions of "government and planner led policy","garden architecture and style","civil society activities and group relations",so as to provide a new perspective for the study of modern parks. It is found that the emergence of modern parks in Northeast China is the result of the materialization of "power capital culture" in space, which is accompanied by the game among the three political forces of China,Japan and Russia. After liberation and the founding of the people’s Republic of China, the people’s government’s treatment of modern parks is actually in the process of exploring the localization of foreign culture. The construction of modern parks includes four ways:new construction, reconstruction, stripping and demolition. The difference between modern parks and ordinary urban parks lies in their special human value.Historically, the public activities of modern parks in Northeast China include six types: recreation, assembly, commemoration, science and education, sports and commerce. With the development of the city, some of them disappear and some of them still exist. In the future, the transformation of m odern parks should focus on the past and present public activities. On the one hand,it should be guided by the government. On the other hand,it should consider the activities spontaneously formed by the citizens,so as to make modern parks more unique Sp ecial urban public space can better serve the city.
