| With the rapid development of the social modernization process,the old buildings as well as the traditional streets and lanes fell victim to this urban movement,and the traditional architectural pattern and environment are gradually being replaced.Standardized planning and architectural design methodologies have created the homogeneity of cities,the historical faults and the loss of the city memory.Even though the rise of the tall modern buildings has improved people’s living environment,the living environment that people used to be familiar with is getting away,and our memory of the city only exists in vague memories.Under such circumstances,we should retrieve our lost memories since we all have our own city memory for the city we live in..The purpose of this research paper is to explore Dongting South Road based on the city memory,and to design the old city renovation in practice.Through the field investigation on historical and cultural blocks of Dongting South Road and the analysis of the city memory theory,a reasonable plan of renovating old city is proposed in accordance with the related theories of city memory,and it is also applied to the design of the old city renovation in historical and cultural blocks of Dongting South Road.At the same time,this research paper focuses on how to carry out a reasonable old city renovation through the city memory theory,how to make the old city glow with new vitality through the rational development,and how to meet the residents’ living and psychological needs better through the renovation of the living environment. |
