| Urbanization is an important force to promote the modernization of society and economy.In the past few decades,our country’s urbanization has developed rapidly.However,in the extensive and rapid development process,a series of problems have emerged,such as the overall low level of urbanization,deterioration of resources and environment,insufficient land intensive use,and slow industrial upgrading.Therefore,at present,improving the quality of urbanization is the top priority of development.The construction and opening of high-speed railways have greatly shortened the time distance between cities,strengthened the exchange of population and resource elements between cities,and promoted economic development,which is an important driving force for improving the quality of urbanization.Most studies show that the opening of high-speed rail can promote the economic development of large cities.However,for small and medium-sized cities,there is the possibility of "siphon effect" and "aisle effect".Therefore,the impact of high-speed rail on the quality of urbanization of small and medium-sized cities is worth exploring.This article takes small and medium-sized cities as the research object to explore the impact of high-speed rail on the urbanization quality of cities along the route.This article first defines the concepts of small and medium-sized cities,urbanization quality and high-speed rail,reads and summarizes related documents,and selects 16 relevant indicators on the five levels of innovation,coordination,green,openness,and sharing to build a comprehensive indicator of urbanization quality The system then uses the entropy method to calculate the weight of the indicator,calculates the score of the quality of urbanization,and analyzes the development of the quality of urbanization.Then introduce the propensity score matching method for the matching control group of small and medium cities with high-speed rail,construct a multi-period double difference model,and perform regression calculation on the effect of high-speed rail.The empirical analysis results show that:(1)The quality of our country’s urbanization is improving year by year.In terms of regions,the urbanization quality of cities in eastern,central and western regions is also improving year by year.The urbanization quality of cities in the eastern region is the highest,followed by the central region,and finally the western region.The urbanization quality of cities with high-speed rail is higher than that of non-open cities,And the gap gradually increased after 2008.(2)The opening of the high-speed rail has a positive effect on the urbanization quality of the small and medium-sized cities in the whole sample.Per capita GDP,investment in fixed assets,employment and fiscal expenditures all have a positive impact on the quality of urbanization.(3)The opening of high-speed rail has gradually increased the promotion of urbanization quality over a period of time,and in the long run,its promotion has tended to be flat.(4)Based on the perspective of heterogeneity analysis,the opening of highspeed rail has a positive effect on the urbanization quality of small and medium-sized cities in the east,central and western regions.High-speed rail has the most obvious promotion effect on the urbanization quality of the eastern region,followed by the central region.The smallest is the western region;the high-speed rail has an inhibitory effect on the urbanization quality of cities in the circle of 1 hour away from the central city,promotes cities in the circle of 2 hours or more,and promotes cities in the circle of 2hours more obvious.In response to the above results,suggestions are made:(1)Make a plan and improve the construction of high-speed rail;(2)Combine local advantages and formulate development strategies according to local conditions;(3)Summarize experience and improve its own strength and attractiveness;(4)Implement differentiated development strategies,Strengthen regional cooperation. |
