With the emergence of intelligent driving,Internet of Vehicles(Io V),and other concepts,automotive lens,as the main visual sensor of intelligent driving and the significant port of Io V information collection,witness a good development prospect.With the continuously growing demand in the global market for automotive lens,the issue of assembly line balancing(ALB)has already become one of the most significant factors that restrict the assembly production efficiency of automotive lens.Therefore,there is an urgent need to study the assembly line balance optimization of automotive lens.This paper takes an optical product manufacturer’s automotive front-view lens assembly line as the study object and attempts to optimize and improve the automotive front-view lens assembly line in combination with the relevant study results from home and abroad,as well as by adopting the basic industrial engineering and linear programming method,so as to reduce the production rhythm,smoothness index,and line balance rate of automotive front-view lens assembly lines.This study began by describing the status quo of the company’s automotive front-view lens assembly line,followed by identifying the problematic station that reduced the productivity of the assembly line.In addition,the PDCA and ECRS principles and procedure analysis,operation analysis,etc.were also adopted to preliminarily alleviate the conditions of non-value-added and wasteful activities existing in the problematic station of the assembly line.Furthermore,this study also conducted a workflow analysis on the material handler’s operation on the assembly line,specified the management workflow of materials issuance on the assembly line,and enhanced the supply efficiency of materials.Finally,based on the improvement of basic IE,and with regard to the ALB problem,a mathematical model was established on the basis of linear programming method.Lingo was used to solve the mathematical model,optimize C’s automotive front-view lens assembly workflow,reduce the assembly rhythm,station number,and smoothness index of assembly line,as well as enhance the line balance rate.Through the enhancement of C’s automotive front-view lens assembly line,the capacity,production period,line balance rate,and smoothness index has been greatly improved.The production period of the assembly line has been improved from the 26.67 s before the enhancement to 15.36 s after the enhancement,viz.,a 42.41 % reduction in production period of assembly line.The line balance rate has been improved from 58.59 %before the enhancement to 90.43 % after the enhancement,viz.,a 54.34 % improvement in balance rate.The smoothness index of C’s automotive front-view lens assembly line has been improved from 3.43 before the enhancement to 1.87 after the enhancement,a 45.48 %reduction in the smoothness index after the enhancement.After the enhancement,the output capacity of assembly line is expected to reach 2 343 pieces/day,which not only satisfies the present market demand but also greatly improves the assembly efficiency of the products.
