Research On The Interaction Between Central City Air Transport Industry And Regional Economy

The sustained development of the air transport industry and regional economy has made academic circles pay more and more attention to the study of the relationship between them.On the one hand,the regional economy is the foundation for the development of the air transport industry.The better the regional economic development,the higher the demand for air transport.At the same time,the regional economy provides the air transport industry with the talents,technology and capital needed for its development.On the other hand,the development of the air transport industry has also driven the regional economy.The increase in passenger throughput directly drives consumption and increases the income of local tourism,accommodation,retail and other industries.The increase in business travelers has not only contributed to the flow of labor,but also the flow of services and technology;The increase in cargo and mail throughput means that the increase in consumer consumption and enterprise output directly promotes economic development;the increase in the number of takeoffs and landings of aircraft as a carrier of passengers and cargo and mail will inevitably promote economic development.Therefore,the research on the interactive relationship between the air transport industry and the regional economy has important theoretical and practical significance.Existing related researches have limited quantitative analysis of the interactive relationship between the two.This paper takes nine national central cities as the main research objects,and firstly makes a descriptive analysis of the development status of the central city’s air transport industry and regional economy.Secondly,quantitative analysis is based on the panel vector autoregressive(PVAR)model.By using the panel data of nine national central cities for 13 years,a comprehensive evaluation index system for the regional economy is established,and passenger throughput,cargo and mail throughput,and aircraft takeoffs and landings are selected.To measure the development level of the city’s air transport industry to explore the interaction between the air transport industry and the regional economy.The research results show that the increase in passenger throughput,cargo and mail throughput,and aircraft takeoffs and landings can drive economic development and passenger throughput is the strongest driving force for economic development,while economic development can only drive cargo and mail throughput.The increase in aircraft takeoffs and landings has little effect on passenger throughput.Finally,it puts forward policy recommendations such as strengthening the construction of logistics infrastructure in and around the airport,formulating development plans for the airport economic zone according to local conditions,and promoting industrial cooperation in the airport economic zone and hinterland regions.
