Design Of 43# Student Dormitory In Henan University Of Technology

Under the background of the expansion of college enrollment and the COVID-19 pandemic situation in China,universities are facing the dual test of high density student community and the uncertainty of pandemic,which also affects the health situation of students.As the main living place of students’ life,college dormitories’ design and quality are closely related to students’ health.The author has used his own experience to prove that dormitory to some extent influences students’ physical and mental health.Through the study of relevant literature review and case study,the author finds that the study of dormitory design and student health is a missing piece in the academia.Therefore,the author makes a semi-structured interview on the daily life needs and feelings of the students and the new problems brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,and explores the daily needs of the students and the shortcomings of the current development.In view of this,the author analyzes the domestic development trend of dormitory design related to students’ health and the possible changes to dormitory design from the perspective of policy and codes.Through the summary of the research contents,the author puts forward a series of design strategies on dormitory to promote students’ health,and applies it to the design practice of "No.43 dormitory building of Henan University of Technology " to verify it and hopefully to find out a healthy high density student dormitory design model.This dissertation is divided into five parts.The first part is chapter 1,which mainly illustrates the background,research purpose and significance,the definition of the research object,domestic and overseas literature review,case study,research methods and technological routes.The second part is chapter 2,where the author made a semi-structure interviews of60 students who have experienced the dormitory lockdown in 2020.It mainly explores the students’ daily life needs,dormitory environment evaluation,and new problems under pandemic situation and new normal.The results are summarized and the optimized strategies are put forward.The third part is chapter 3,which mainly interprets the development trend of domestic dormitory design standard and the policy document of pandemic prevention,analyzes the enlightenment of architectural design to deal with students’ health and public health events,and puts forward the design strategy.The fourth part is chapter 4,which mainly overlaps the strategies put forward in the first two parts.Taking the design of dormitory Building No.43 of Henan University of Technology as an example,the new design strategy is verified in practice.The fifth part is chapter 5,which is a summary of the previous text,and puts forward shortcomings and prospects of this field.
