China is the world’s largest coal-producing country as well as the largest coal-fired power generation country.It consumes a large amount of coal every year for power generation and produces a large amount of fly ash.China’s coal consumption in 2020 will exceed 4.9 billion tons,of which the power industry consumes about 2.2 billion tons of coal,and the resulting fly ash is about 660 million tons.The fly ash contains a large amount of metal resources such as aluminum,lithium and gallium.As most of fly ash is currently landfilled as industrial waste,this precious resource is wasted,and it brings huge environmental and resource concerns.Achieving the peak of carbon in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060 has become a major national strategy.If coal enterprises want to achieve sustainable development,they must step out of the small circle based on pure coal resource consumption and gradually move toward high value-added and high processing product development.National Energy Group Zhunneng Group Company(hereinafter referred to as "Zhunneng Group")is a large and medium-sized energy group company in China.This article intends to take the coal-based Zhunneng Group as the research object to study its transformation and development.Using fly ash to extract alumina resources as a case study,we will discuss how traditional energy companies can formulate and implement new transformation strategies to achieve economic and social benefits in the future under the background of the new era and obtain long-term benefits.After 30 years of development,Zhunneng Group is standing at a new starting point and is in urgent need of deeper development to meet the requirements of the times.This article takes the extraction of alumina from fly ash as a case for analysis,based on the relevant theories of the development strategy,through the use of PEST analysis,Porter’s Five Forces Model,analyze the external and internal environment of the company in an all-round way,identify opportunities and threats,and clarify its own strengths and weaknesses.Then through the SWOT analysis matrix,it was finally determined that the company’s development strategy was a forward integrated development strategy: with green coal mining as the main line,relying on the fly ash produced by its own coal gangue power plant,and focusing on the study of fly ash to extract alumina and Its associated resources.At the same time,we hope to provide a reference for the development strategies of similar coal enterprises.
