With the continuous attention on the resource utilization, energy conservation and emission reduction, all provinces and cities across China have put forward new requirements to vigorously promote green buildings. At present, there are more than ten thousand projects obtained green building labels in China, however, the projects with operation labels are less than 10%.The use of green building technology often affects the overall performance of green building, and the problem is that the requirements in green building assessment standards on green building technology are unlikely to be very detailed and comprehensive.Whether the technology is suitable for a specific project is still lack of consideration, which to a certain extent affects the development of green buildings towards high quality and better performance. As green building energy-saving technologies are more complex and diverse,in-depth studies are needed. Therefore, this paper put forward the definition of technology suitability not only includes the suitability of climate and environment, but also extended to the energy performance of technology application, the rationality of economic benefits and the users’ satisfaction. In view of the suitability of green building energy-saving technology, this paper developed a multi-layered and multi-dimensional evaluation system, which can be used for technology primary selection in the design stage or post evaluation in the operation stage.Through the literature review of green building energy-saving technology and related evaluation research, this paper firstly puts forward the goal, content and significance of the suitability evaluation system. Then it introduces the three layers of the suitability evaluation system: the preliminary screening layer—establishes the screening principles from the aspects of climate, building function, resource and environmental policy, urban planning, etc.;the demand-oriented single dimension evaluation layer—three evaluation dimensions of technical performance, economic benefit and comfort satisfaction are set respectively for different concerns of national standards, developers and users. The importance of evaluation index is obtained through binary comparative analysis method based on the expert survey, and the evaluation results are given by scoring quantitative method.Comprehensive evaluation with multi-dimensional indexes layer—in view of the limitations in the previous study, such as the imperfection of typical evaluation indexes, the problem that the weight distribution relies too much on objective data as well as the inadequate information in the database, this study made improvements in establishing the screening principle for evaluation indexes, improving the weighting method to subjective-objective combination method, expanding database and setting up the web page as a platform of data collection. In this paper, natural daylighting(light pipe)technology, solar hot water technology and exhaust heat recovery technology are used as examples to demonstrate the process under three layers of evaluation. At the same time,in order to improve the efficiency of evaluation process,a software tool is developed to realize the whole evaluation functions with the web page as the data interface. The multi-layered and multi-dimensional suitability evaluation system of green building energy-saving technology proposed in this paper can play an auxiliary role in technology decision-making,grasp the current level of the technology application and finally lead to a better direction for green building advancement.
