Non-motor vehicles are an essential part of urban traffic,which play an important role in connecting motorized travel and promoting the sustainable development of traffic.With the rapid development of shared bicycles and takeout industries,the proportion of non-motor vehicle travel in China has further increased,and the safety and efficiency of mixed traffic have attracted wide attention.Intersections are urban traffic nodes,where traffic accidents frequently occur.In order to improve the traffic safety situation of intersections,it is urgent to analyze the traffic behavior of traffic participants at intersection.Most of the intersections in our country do not implement signal control for right-turning motor vehicles,allowing them to turn right during red lights,which will cause serious interference to non-motorized vehicles.In order to improve the traffic safety of intersections,it is necessary to analyze the traffic behavior of right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles.In this paper,the video observation method was firstly adopted to investigate and extract the traffic data of right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles.By using statistical analysis method,the traffic characteristics of right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles were analyzed respectively,and the general rules of right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles at signal intersection were summarized.On this basis,the trajectory and speed characteristics of right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles in traffic conflict area were analyzed,which laid the foundation for the following analysis of the severity of the traffic conflict.Secondly,on the basis of summarizing different types of traffic conflict indicators,Time to Collision,Post-Encroachment Time and Deceleration-to-Safety Time of each sample were selected as the analysis indicators,and the K-means clustering method was used to classify the severity of traffic conflicts between right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles.It was divided into three levels: potential,general and severe.After that,the Ordered Probit model was used to analyze the important factors that affected the severity of traffic conflict between right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles.By calculating the marginal income of each variable,it was found that the influencing factors of increasing the probability of serious conflict mainly included the right-turning traffic volume,non-motor vehicle traffic volume,right-turning motor vehicle speed change,right-turning motor vehicle and non-motor vehicle passing situation,as well as non-motor vehicle violation.Finally,taking the right-turning motor vehicle and non-motor vehicle traffic conflict area as the analysis sample,the analysis index system was established by selecting two analysis indexes of general traffic conflict rate and serious traffic conflict rate.Through the grey clustering method,a safety analysis model of the conflict area between right-turning motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles was established.The survey samples were used for case analysis to obtain the safety level of each sample.It was found that the traffic safety level of the intersection of Taishang South Street and Chengshan Avenue was low.According to the analysis result of the factors affecting the severity of traffic conflict,the traffic safety improvement measures were put forward for different entrances of the intersection,including setting up dedicated phases,controlling the speed of right-turning motor vehicles and ensuring the priority of non-motor vehicles.
