With the development of mechanical industry,mechanical design has been paid more and more attention,and mechanical structure design is the most workload,the biggest impact and the most important part of the mechanical design.Mechanical structure design not only ensure mechanical products can satisfied with the main mechanical functions,but also consider the product needs to meet the user’s use requirements,improve the quality and cost performance of products,and have a certain degree of innovation.Mechanical products play an important role in many fields,thus giving birth to the design process of different mechanical structure design.Even if there are many differences between different processes,the design content also has similar parts.However,although the practitioners in the mechanical industry have summarized the common parts of mechanical structure design,and they have proposed many methods for the innovative design of mechanical structure design,systematic design methods of mechanical structure design are rarely studied.This paper based on extension innovation method and existing mechanical structure design method,on the premise that the function of the mechanical product is determined,conduct in-depth research on the structure design process of mechanical products,proposed an extension innovation design method of mechanical structure,and verified the feasibility of this method through practical cases.The main research contents of this paper include:(1)Combined correlation knowledge about mechanical structure design with extension model construction method,for moving parts and component such as those used to bear loads,transmit motion and power,structure relation and its environment and motion modes,research extension model construction method of mechanical structure design elements with definite function,including:environmental sites matter-elements,parts and components matter-elements,motion modes affair-elements,structures relation-elements,and then corresponding relationships among them were construct,which a network of these design basic-elements was also construct to intuitively express the mechanical structure design of domain knowledge.(2)Using correlation rules and domain knowledge,to carry out correlation analysis of mechanical structure design elements basic-elements,which is construct the whole structure correlation network and detailed structure correlation network models of mechanical structure design basic-elements.Based on the divergence rules and extension transformation method,research the active extension transformation and conductive transformation of mechanical structure design basic-elements,and implication system of extension transformation different basic-elements were constructed according to the correlation network.(3)According to the above knowledge,the general process of extension innovation design method of mechanical structure was studied.,with this process,multiple different design ideas of mechanical structure can be generated,and better design ideas can be selected by superiority evaluating method,and then the extension innovation design scheme of mechanical structure can be concretely formed.The feasibility of this method was verified by a practical case study.The main innovations of this paper are:(1)Extracting the elements knowledge from the domain knowledge of mechanical structure design,the extension model method was used to model the structure design involved elements,modelizing and logicalizing the mechanical structure design process and the analysis of the research process which is operable and convenient for designers to "suit the remedy to the case",according to the design demand or expected mechanical products.(2)According to the corresponding relationships among different mechanical structure design elements,corresponding relation network model was constructed.Using correlation analysis method,correspnding correlation network model was constructed,forming the implicating system of extension transformations,so that the active transformations and conductive transformations can be considered at the same time.This supplies qualitative and quantitative methods for generating reasonable and effective creative ideas of mechanical structure design and avoids new problems.(3)Based on the extension innovation method and mechanical structure design domain knowledge,this work yields a certain universality of extension innovation design method of mechanical structure,enriches the design theory and method of extension system,paves a way of the intelligent design of mechanical structure.
