High-speed Rail To Yanbian Tourism Economic Impact Study

Developed transportation is not only one of the prerequisites for regional tourism to develop,but one of the important indicators to measure how well tourism has developed as well.As the high-speed railway network in China continues to improve in recent years,it is now the era of high-speed railway economy.Exchanges between regions have become more convenient and connections have become increasingly closer,resulting in the integration of various resources,and tourism has also achieved rapid development.As the Changchun-Hunchun High-Speed Railway opens up,the travel time from Changchun to Yanbian has been greatly cut down,and less travel time leads to a greater space and more convenient conditions for Yanbian’s economic development.How the Changchun-Hunchun High-Speed Railway affects the tourism development of Yanbian is studied in this paper.This paper mainly starts from the following aspects:First,the research background,significance,results from domestic and foreign researchers and related theories are systematically sorted out,and relevant concepts are clearly defined;and theories such as economic radiation,growth pole,point-axis development,and agglomeration effect are elaborated,offering a strong foundation for the writing of this paper.The current situation of tourism development in Yanbian is analyzed on the basis of relevant theories.Second,which is also the main part of the paper,provides the analysis of the impact of the Changchun-Hunchun High-Speed Railway on the tourism of Yanbian.The tourism resources of Yanbian,current capacity,ways and structure of consumption,and the demographics of tourists are introduced.According to the data provided by institutes such as the Culture,Broadcasting and Tourism Bureau of Yanbian Prefecture,the analysis of the development of tourism in recent years is provided.Meanwhile,a method that combines qualitative and quantitative analysis is adopted,and dependent variables including capacity and total tourism revenue,and a number of control variables including GDP,number of tourist spots,number of travel agencies,disposable income per capita of urban residents,and total retail sales,are selected for the establishment of a panel data model that shows the relations between tourism development level indicators,while considering the representativeness of such impact factors.Then,Stata is used to construct a two-way fixed effect model,which provides an analysis of the impact of Changchun-Hunchun High-Speed Railway on the tourism of cities alongside by comparing the changes to the indicators from 2010 to 2019.The result shows that the opening of Changchun-Hunchun High-Speed Railway is closely related to the general tourism indicators of Yanbian,and the railway has promoted the tourism in Yanbian to an extent.It improved the accessibility of cities alongside,strengthened inter-city economic connections,expanded the tourism market,drove the growth of the number of tourists,facilitated the growth of tourism revenue,and reduced the travel costs of tourists.The railway plays a positive role in tourism development.At last,issues such as the tourism development gap between cities along the railway and cities that are not is widening,economic growth and per capita consumption are decelerating,tourism products are lacking diversity,and infrastructure is incomplete.Suggestions regarding Yanbian’s tourism development are proposed,including creating brand awareness with intensive promotion,improving folk experiences with existing advantages,focusing on diversified development with innovation,narrowing gaps by driving the development of marginalized cities,and leading a new ecosystem by integrating current resources.
