The traditional Chinese blocks are mainly composed of wood-framed architectures,especially in developed areas,having faced prominent fire protection problems.In remaining traditional neighborhoods,modern codes for fire protection are difficult to apply,making the protection in a dilemma.In fact,since ancient times,the ancients have attached great importance to the fire protection of wood-framed architectures and accumulated rich experience,which is this essay strives to explore.Traditional blocks generally include residential,commercial,and public functions,with residential functions accounting for a large proportion,forming dense residential areas.There is a large density of architectures and a small scale of alleys in dense residential blocks,which leads to more prominent fire protection problem.This thesis focuses on the various fire protection practices in traditional dense residential blocks,and some commercial and residential mixed blocks are also involved in discussion.The thesis emphasizes that fire protection is a system in traditional dense blocks,including construction,street,installation and management.The research in this thesis is deeply helpful in protecting traditional blocks and solving the dilemma in inheritance.This thesis analyzes and summarizes the fire protection measures of traditional dense residential blocks by investigating the existing traditional dense residential blocks in the three major developed areas of China-the Bohai Sea,the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta,concluding in the form of fire protection system.Chapter 1 summarizes the content and central issues of the fire prevention system of traditional dense residential blocks in developed areas.From chapter 2 to chapter 5,the concrete practices are discussed respectively in four aspects-building practices,residential layout,water environment utilization and treatment,firefighting organization and technology.Chapter 6 takes Southeast Camp Street Block in Nantong as an example to explore how various fire protection measures can cooperate with each other to form into a fire protection system.The thesis includes about 55,000 words,143 pictures and 2 tables.
