Study On "The Patio-style Courtyard With Three Rooms And Two Wings" In Western Zhejiang

The main research site of this thesis is in the western Zhejiang,including the whole Yanzhou,Lanxi in Wuzhou,and Longyou in Quzhou.The second-level research sites are Huizhou and Wuzhou,which are closely related to western Zhejiang.This thesis focuses on the Patio-style courtyard-three rooms and two wings,which is the main architectural style of the local dwellings in western Zhejiang,and which can be said to be the core cell constituting the local villages.Chapter 1: The introduction.This part is to discuss the significance and purpose of the study on the folk dwelling in Western Zhejiang,and to sort out the background and existing data of the research on the folk houses in the western Zhejiang,besides to expound the research methods.Chapter 2: Extending the definitions of the folk dwellings with three rooms and two wings,and discussing the shape and structure characteristics of the dwellings with three rooms and two wings”,such as the plane,the beam frame,the facade,the roof and the sculpture.Chapter 3 : Exploring the important nodes and key technologies of construction of the dwellings with three rooms and two wings” in depth,such as the mortise and tenon,the sitting windows,waist eaves,Ma Tau Wall(wharf wall),doors and so on.in order to understand the core and key nodes of the construction technology,such as the large timber structure.Chapter 4: in this part,it is firstly discussing the variations of the dwellings with three rooms and two wings,for example,the pair joint,the quadruple joint,and other form.And then,it is extending the formation and development from the single dwelling with the three room and two wings to the settlement.Finally,I hope that the theory discussed could guide the practical design.As it said in Tao Te Ching: " The One gave birth successively to two things,three things,up to ten thousand ".Chapter 5: This part is mainly to compares the differences in the forms and systems in Western Zhejiang,Huizhou and Wuzhou,as well as the reasons for the differences in folk houses in the three regions.Additionally,to discuss the influence on the architecture aspects of the local folk houses,because of the thoughts of the geographical environment and the clans system ideology,and so on.
