Anthropological Consideration Of Major Traffic Accidents On Expressway

Western Hubei section of Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway is an important channel connecting Chongqing Municipality and Shanghai Municipality,it is also a typical mountainous expressway.Since its completion and opening to traffic 2009,this Expressway has improved local transportation situation,meanwhile it has been also an accident prone area,there have been 695 traffic accidents in half a year,which brings great hidden danger to drivers and passengers on the Expressway undoubtedly.In this thesis,fatal traffic accidents occurred in the west of Hubei section of Shanghai Chongqing Expressway in recent ten years are selected as the research object,analyzing and studying disaster causes from the perspective of disaster anthropology.Firstly,the thesis paraphrases expressway and traffic accidents as well as their types,to help understanding of fatal traffic accident.Then,paper describes the fatal traffic accidents occurred during recent ten years in China and the west of Hubei section of Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway in China.Secondly,comprehensive investigation of characteristics of accidents in West Hubei section of Shanghai Chongqing Expressway through four aspects,such as time,space,people and vehicles.It is found that the occurrence of fatal traffic accidents on expressways is affected by the natural environment and driver himself,like drivers ?age,driving age,education level and the type of vehicle they drive.These cases shows that winter and night occur more accidents,tunnel,ramp and bend are the main spots of traffic accidents.The main driver caused fatal traffic accidents are mostly youth driver,novice driver and driver with secondary education level.Lastly,on the purpose of exploring the reason that leading fatal traffic accident by presenting the process of typical cases and the responsibility determination.Through this way,we can find the complex factors of society,economy and culture are highlighted in committing traffic offences.
