The Research On The Traditional Settlement Landscape Of Wushui River Valley

Wushui River valley which have a long history and culture belongs to the west of Hunan in a broad sense,and a large number of settlements with traditional features have been preserved.However,at present,the study of settlements in this area is mainly focused on individual settlements,and few systematic studies of settlements from the basin as a whole.This paper will explore the category and characteristics of the settlement landscape in Wushui River valley from the macro and micro perspectives through literature research,field investigation,summary and analysis.The first part of the paper describes the social background of the relatively closed Wushui River valley,rugged natural environment,multi-ethnic settlement and multicultural integration,and explores the historical development process of the Wushui River valley basin from the remote Xinjiang of the dynasty to the hinterland of the Central Plains Dynasty.The second part studies the settlement landscape from the whole and the interior.It is found that the local residents follow the "mountain water field forest" mode to reconstruct the surrounding environment of the settlement,forming the unique landscape spatial pattern of Wushui River valley.The internal space landscape of the settlement is the material carrier of the living custom and spiritual belief of the settlement residents,which is composed of five aspects: the boundary and entrance of the settlement,traditional residence,courtyard space,street space and public space.As the most basic unit of the internal space landscape of the settlement,traditional residential buildings and courtyards together constitute the streets and public spaces of the settlement.In the last part,combined with the natural and human background conditions of Wushui River valley,by analyzing the basic factors and mutation factors that affect the settlement landscape,the internal driving mechanism of the generation and evolution of settlement landscape is explored.And put forward the specific strategies to protect and develop the traditional settlement landscape,through the protection of the traditional living habits of local residents on the basis of the industrial upgrading of the settlement,and then focus on local resources to upgrade the key settlements with high value,so as to achieve the long-term and orderly development of the settlement landscape.
