Automobile virtual driving simulator is a simulation platform that can simulate the movement characteristics of vehicles realistically and accurately,and produce a real driving experience on hearing and vision.It is a systematic package of advanced technologies and means such as virtual reality,three-dimensional graphics and visual simulation,computers,artificial intelligence,vehicle simulation,data communication and so on.Virtual driving simulation has a large number of application scenarios in driver training,vehicle product development,driving response evaluation,etc.At present,major automobile manufacturers and related research institutes have conducted a lot of research in this technical field.This thesis takes the realization of virtual driving system as the research goal,bases on the current situation of visual simulation and vehicle simulation,combines with the latest technology and related theories,which conducts systematic and in-depth research on the realization of visual scenes,vehicle power simulation,vehicle collision detection,humancomputer interaction design,etc.and achieves good results.The main achievements and innovations of this thesis are as follows:(1)By researching the key technologies of virtual reality,sorting and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of mainstream devices,Samsung Odyssey equipment based on "Inside-out" spatial positioning technology and Unity 3D development engine with the latest "Shader" technology are selected firstly as the software and hardware development environment for virtual driving,which is used to develop a highly immersive virtual environment.(2)Image modeling and geometric modeling are combined to achieve a highly realistic visual simulation effect with a lower computational cost.Researching on the special effects technology of the visual system is studied thoroughly to realize the simulation of rain,snow,lights,and sounds,and the visualization of virtual driving is further enhanced.(3)The vehicle model is designed with 3DS Max,the vehicle driving system is analyzed based on the vehicle dynamics.Then the vehicle driving control is realized and the key attributes are parameterized with the modularization of C# script.Finally,a dynamic simulation of the automotive system including the car body,tires and four suspensions is established in Unity 3D,whose physical properties are highly consistent with the real world.Through the Nav Mesh technology and Curvy plug-in in Unity 3D,non-user-driven AI vehicles are realized in two ways.(4)Combining the interface design specifications of virtual reality with artistic aesthetics,the interactive interface of the virtual driving system is designed to realize the functions of timer,collision detection,fuel detection,speed detection and so on.Also,the user’s input control can be achieved by keyboard,mouse device and controller in two ways,which can control vehicle movement,vehicle animation,various auxiliary function calls,climate change,lighting,etc.With the above research work,a virtual driving system based on Unity 3D engine and virtual reality technology is realized.The system has good performance in real-time,fidelity,immersion and interactivity,and its functions are very rich.
