Study On The Space Design Of The Elderly Apartment Based On The Needs Of Environmental Psychology

With aging population of our country worsening and elderly people’s opinions of supporting the aged changing,more and more elderly people choose institutions to provide for the aged.In such a context,this paper studies the spatial design of the apartments for the elderly based on the relevant theories of environmental psychology,analyzes the physiological and psychological characteristics of the elderly proceeding from our national conditions of aging population,designs the spatial environment of the apartments suitable for the elderly in China,responds to the national policy of vigorously developing the related undertakings for the elderly,and promotes the growth of the national undertakings for the elderly.Firstly,this paper introduces the background,purpose and significance of the subject research.Through literature analysis,relevant literature materials is consulted,relevant concepts are sorted out,and the concepts of ecological perception theory,spatial cognition theory and spatial behavior theory of environmental psychology applicable to elderly apartment design.Through comparative analysis of the elderly apartments at home and abroad,it sums up the deficiencies of the elderly apartment design and the necessity of meeting the needs of the elderly’s psychology.Through interviews and literature to sort out before analyzing the elderly’s physiological,psychological characteristics,it generalizes the spatial requirements of physiology degeneration in daily life and the spatial requirements of psychological feelings for the elderly,discusses the relationships between the physiological and psychological characteristics and spatial environment,concludes the factors of ecological perception affecting the function,the factors of spatial cognition affecting the emotion and the factors of spatial behavior affecting moods.After that,the spatial design and strategies to meet the psychological needs of the elderly are proposed combined with relevant theories of environmental psychology.Finally,according to the study results,this paper designs different functional space of the elderly apartments and puts forward a design plan that meets the physiological and psychological needs of the elderly,in the hope of providing reference for the design of the elderly apartments in the future.
