Abstract/Summary:
Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, environmental pollution has been a large-scale and far-reaching issue related to human development.Environmental pollution is known to cause irreparable damage to people’s physical, cognitive, and mental health, but it’s more important to recognize that environmental pollution can cause harm far beyond health problems.Since the late 1960 s,environmental issues have featured prominently on the political agenda of countries around the world.Environmental pollution that accompanies rapid industrialization and urbanization may undermine economic success and the legitimacy of the ruling party,so China must address the current environmental pollution problem. In fact, environmental pollution cannot directly affect the subjective feelings and actions of individuals.Individuals make judgments and actions based on their own perceptions of the environment. This study takes the "micro-institutional theory" as a theoretical perspective, and takes the impact of environmental pollution perception on government trust as a research question.Under the guidance of related research, this study incorporates sociodemographic characteristics, government economic performance evaluation, government political performance evaluation and interpersonal trust into control variables, and uses government environmental protection work evaluation as an intermediary variable to explore the impact of environmental pollution perception on government trust. This study mainly discusses and answers the following questions:first, describe the basic situation of Chinese people’s perception of environmental pollution, government environmental protection work evaluation and government trust;second, analyze environmental pollution perception, government environmental protection work evaluation and government trust whether there are significant differences in socio-demographic characteristics;thirdly,to explore whether environmental pollution perception has an impact on government trust;fourthly,to explore whether government environmental protection work evaluation as an intermediary factor will affect the relationship between environmental pollution perception and government trust Influence, and if so,how this influence mechanism works.By using the data of the 2019 " Chinese Social Survey"(CSS)to conduct empirical analysis with descriptive statistics, analysis of variance,Pearson correlation and mediation test, this study draws the following conclusions: First, environmental The perception of pollution is not too serious, and the level of government environmental protection work evaluation and government trust is relatively high;second, there are significant differences in social and demographic characteristics in environmental pollution perception, government environmental protection work evaluation and government trust;third, environmental pollution perception, government environmental protection work There is a pairwise correlation between evaluation and government trust;fourth, environmental pollution perception has a direct negative impact on government trust, that is,environmental pollution perception can significantly negatively predict government trust;fifth, government environmental protection work Evaluation has a mediating role between the impact of environmental pollution perception on government trust.
