Research On The Influence Of Environmental Quality On Residents’ Government Trust

China’s long-term extensive economic development,industrial economy caused by environmental pollution,vegetation destruction,frequent occurrence of extreme weather and other ecological environmental problems have been the concern of the majority of residents.The continuous spread of negative environmental public opinion,the frequent occurrence of environmental group events,and the decline of the government’s environmental performance evaluation all reflect the current residents’ doubts on the government’s environmental governance ability.A series of environmental problems not only affect residents’ health,but also may affect residents’ trust in the government.Residents’ trust in the government is an important prerequisite for the legitimate administration and efficient implementation of public policies,so we must attach great importance to the challenge to government trust.In recent years,in order to promote high-quality economic development,China has actively addressed economic structural issues,resource and environmental issues,and emphasized green ecological protection to meet people’s urgent needs for a high-quality green life in the new era.Whether environmental quality will have an impact on residents’ trust in government,it is necessary to study the impact of environmental quality on residents’ trust in government.By sorting out relevant literature,this paper combines principal-agent theory,responsible government theory and Tacitus trap theory to define related concepts,and analyzes the impact mechanism of environmental quality on government trust.intermediary in the relationship.According to the data of 28 provinces（autonomous regions and municipalities）extracted from the 2015 China Comprehensive Social Survey（CGSS2015）,the government trust is described and analyzed.The environmental quality evaluation system mainly includes "ecological environmental pollution degree","ecological environmental status" With the help of STATA software,the environmental quality scores of provinces（autonomous regions and municipalities）in 2014 were calculated by the entropy method,and analyzed and described.Match the local government trust micro data surveyed by CGSS2015 with the 2014 local environmental quality macro and micro data calculated by the entropy method,and use the OLS regression model to analyze the impact of environmental quality on residents’ government trust.The results show that environmental quality has a significant positive impact on residents’ government trust,and residents’ government trust increases with the improvement of environmental quality;life well-being plays a mediating role in the relationship between environmental quality and residents’ government trust;by replacing environmental quality data,replacing data The time and source were regressed,and the model passed the robustness test;in the heterogeneity test,it was found that the impact of environmental quality on government trust was different for residents in different regions,health status,political outlook,and family economic status..Based on the empirical research results,this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions from three aspects: improving the quality of the green ecological environment,improving the level of environmental governance protection,and creating a multi-subject co-governance pattern,in order to enhance the trust of the residents’ government from the perspective of improving the environmental quality.
