The implementation of the waste sorting pilot for many years has not been significant. However, the public produces more and more waste in their daily life.More and more people support waste sorting and express their willingness to sort waste. However, people often have no waste classification or rarely carry out garbage classification in their daily life.Based on the phenomenon of "high cognition and low practice" of the public in garbage classification, the influencing factors of public domestic waste classification intention and behavior and the relationship between them were studied.Combined with planned behavior theory,ABC theory and properties of Chinese situation, this paper made a questionnaire on domestic waste classification and established a framework model of classification behavior to study the main factors influencing waste classification, and understand the deep-seated reasons that hinder the public classification.Based on the research conclusions, the relevant suggestions are raised. The chief epilogue of study include the following:(1)By the theoretical model of classification behavior,it is found that subjective norms, convenience conditions, attitude and perceptual behavior control have active effects on domestic waste classification intention, which directly determines the classification behavior.Among them, providing convenient conditions for the public has the greatest impact on their intention to take part in the classification.(2)The study found that the influence of policy factors on the behavior intention of domestic waste classification is negative.(3)The public is more willing to classify recyclable garbage than kitchen waste. For the classification of kitchen waste, the elderly are more willing to classify it than other groups.(4)In terms of the influence of demographic variables on classification intention and classification behavior,it’s found that gender has no significant influence on the classification intention and classification behavior of domestic waste;it is found that age, education level, and employment status affect the respondents’ intention to separate domestic garbage and its sorting behavior. The overall physical condition has a significant impact on the public’s intention to classify domestic garbage.Disposable monthly income and family structure are significant for residents’ classification behavior.
