| With the development of industrial modernization,people around the world are paying more and more attention to the ecological environment.David Pepper,a representative of western ecological Marxism,made an in-depth analysis of the root causes of the capitalist ecological crisis and put forward the theory of constructing ecological socialism through the integration of ecological justice and social justice to solve the ecological crisis.David Pepper is an important representative of western ecological Marxism.This paper examines David Pepper’s "ecological justice" thought from three aspects: first,the concept of "ecological justice" and the proposal of related issues.David Pepper realized that the capitalist ecological crisis was rooted in capitalist unequal relations of production,and passed the crisis on to the third world countries and future generations in order to ease the domestic crisis,thus causing international injustice and intergenerational injustice.Second,the philosophical foundation of "ecological justice".David Pepper,based on Marx’s historical materialism theory and methodology,analyzed the unequal relationship between man and nature and various alienation phenomena under the capitalist system,and put forward his social dialectics of nature.Third,David Pepper’s strategy to solve ecological problems.David Pepper made clear his value orientation of insisting on "weak" anthropocentrism by criticizing eco-centrism and technology-centrism.On this basis,he pointed out that in order to solve ecological problems,we must first solve the problem of social injustice,realize the transformation from ecological justice to social justice,realize the red-green alliance,and establish ecological socialism in which ecological justice and social justice are integrated.David Pepper’s "ecological justice" thought also has certain limitations.It positions the value goal on merely solving the current ecological crisis,thereby establishing an ecological socialist country,but because it will not essentially depart from the community of the capitalist system,this vision of the future society has a certain utopia.nature.In David Pepper’s "ecological justice" thought,we also saw the positive role of Marxist theory in solving ecological problems,deeply realized the important value of ecological justice and social justice to the current social development,and at the same time,studied David Pepper’s "ecological justice" thought also has certain reference and inspiration for China’s current ecological civilization construction. |
