In recent years,China has made great achievements in economy,at the same time,it is also facing a series of ecological and environmental problems brought by development.As the hub between economic sustainable development and environmental protection,how will the upgrading of industrial structure affect the quality of ecological environment? In this paper,through the construction of the relationship model of the role of industrial structure upgrading on the quality of ecological environment,we explore the impact of industrial upgrading on the quality of ecological environment,in order to provide theoretical and empirical reference for China to improve the quality of ecological environment.First of all,on the basis of combing and summarizing the related research of industrial structure upgrading and ecological environment quality,based on the panel data of 248prefecture-level cities from 2004 to 2018,the entropy method is used to rationalize industrial structure,advanced industrial structure,and intelligent industrial structure.Construct a comprehensive index of industrial structure upgrading from the four aspects of industrial structure innovation,and construct a comprehensive index of ecological environmental quality from the three levels of ecological environmental pollution,ecological environmental status and ecological environmental governance,and analyze the characteristics of industrial structure upgrading and changes in ecological environmental quality.The results show that:(1)The average value of the national industrial structure upgrading index increased from0.2881 to 0.3135 during the inspection period;the average value of the eastern region increased from 0.2925 to 0.3236,the average value of the central region increased from0.2861 to 0.3067,and the average value of the western region increased from 0.281.Increase to 0.3032.(2)The average value of the comprehensive index of ecological environment quality increased from 0.4346 to 0.4681;among them,the average value of the eastern region increased from 0.4469 to 0.4755,the average value of the central region increased from 0.4286 to 0.4661,and the average value of the western region increased from 0.4160 to0.4525.(3)Under the weight of geographical distance and geographical economic distance,the upgrading of industrial structure and the quality of ecological environment have spatial dependence,and the degree of dependence is showing an upward trend.Secondly,this paper uses the spatial Dubin model as an analysis method to overcome the deficiency of the existing literature negligent of the spatial interaction effect,and conducts grouping tests from the aspects of national cities,region and different dimensions of industrial structure upgradin to further explore the impact of industrial structure upgradin on the quality of the ecological environment.The results show that:(1)Industrial structure upgradin in this region enhances the improvement of ecological environment quality,and improves the ecological environment of surrounding areas through spatial spillover.(2)The impact of industrial structure upgradin on ecological environment quality is heterogeneous,specifically manifested as follows: In terms of direct effects,the eastern and central regions have seen obvious positive effects of industrial structure upgradin on ecological environment improvement,while the western region has not;However,in terms of indirect effects,the industrial structure upgradin of the three regions all have positive spillover effects on the improvement of the ecological environment quality of the surrounding cities.(3)Different dimensions of industrial structure upgradin have different impacts on ecological environment quality.industrial structure upgradin,industrial structure intelligence and industrial structure innovation have obvious direct promotion effect on the improvement of ecological environment quality,and improve the ecological environment quality in surrounding areas through spatial spillover effect,while the rationalization of industrial structure has no obvious effect on ecological environment quality.(4)In terms of control variables,urbanization level,population quality,regional wealth,government intervention and the scale of foreign investment all have direct positive effects on the improvement of ecological environment quality,but the indirect effects are different under different weights.At the end,based on summing up the above conclusions,this paper suggests that the ecological environment quality in China should be improved by speeding up the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure,adhering to green development,fostering regional cooperation,implementing development strategies according to local conditions and improving transportation infrastructure.
