| In the new era,China has proposed two strategic goals: one is to realize industrial safety and independently controllable;the other is to protect the environment and achieve carbon neutrality.Accordingly,China proposes to cultivate "Hidden Champions" with innovative and creative vitality which mastering core technologies.Obviously,hidden champions of manufacturing industry improve their core competitiveness through technological innovation capability,which is the focus of enhancing China industrial security.Environmental regulation can effectively govern the environment and whether it can promote the technological innovation of Hidden Champions is of great significance to realize self-sufficient and controllable manufacturing strategy.First of all,the article takes 2012-2019 China’s Hidden Champions listed companies in manufacturing as research sample and constructs an evaluation index system for the technological innovation capability of firms from three aspects,including R&D ability,marketing ability and the innovation output capacity.Secondly,TOPSIS and entropy methods are used to measure the technological innovation capability hidden champions in manufacturing.Finally,on the basis of the technological innovation capability index of Hidden Champions,exploring the impact of environmental regulations on the technological innovation of Hidden Champions and using quantile regression method to study the relationship between environmental regulations and technological innovation of Hidden Champions from the perspectives of the whole,by region and by property rights.The results show that: firstly,the development of China’s hidden champion enterprises in manufacturing Industry is not optimistic and the overall strength of technological innovation ability is weak.Secondly,the regional heterogeneity is obvious.In general,the eastern region is better than the central and western regions.The trend of technological innovation capacity in each economic belt changes significantly.The capability of the pearl river delta economic belt has been significantly improved,while the technological innovation capability of the yangtze river delta and the bohai rim economic belt shows a downward trend.The heterogeneity of regional technological innovation capabilities is slowly narrowing.Thirdly,the environmental regulation promotes technological innovation especially for Hidden Champions in the initial stage.Lastly,in terms of regional and property rights estimates,environmental regulation promote technological innovation of Hidden Champions in eastern and has limited or even inhibiting effect on enterprises in central and western.The effect of environmental regulation on state-owned enterprises is less than that on non-state-owned Hidden Champions.Based on the above research conclusions,this article puts forward the following policy recommendations for my country’s hidden champions in manufacturing to improve their technological innovation capabilities: Firstly,increase the protection of patents and the introduction of talents;secondly,while promoting economic development,appropriate Implement environmental regulation policies;thirdly,relying on their own development advantages,each region should encourage and promote the agglomeration of hidden champions in the manufacturing industry;last but not least,continue to adjust the hidden champions in manufacturing The industrial structure will enhance the competitiveness of various economic belts. |
